ServiceMaster Restore is looking for an experienced Water Damage Crew Chief to join our restoration team.
This is not an entry-level restoration position. We're looking for someone who already understands water mitigation, knows how to work safely and efficiently on a loss, and is ready to take responsibility for leading technicians and producing high-quality restoration work.
If you have restoration experience, industry certifications, and you're ready for more responsibility and an opportunity to grow, we'd like to talk with you.
What You'll Do
As a Water Damage Crew Chief, you'll take an active leadership role on residential and commercial water-damage projects.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading technicians and directing daily work on restoration projects.
- Performing water extraction and mitigation services.
- Inspecting affected areas and identifying moisture migration.
- Using moisture meters and other inspection equipment.
- Setting up air movers, dehumidifiers, air filtration devices, and other drying equipment.
- Monitoring drying progress and documenting moisture readings.
- Performing controlled demolition when required.
- Establishing containment and protecting unaffected areas.
- Maintaining clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
- Communicating with customers throughout the work.
- Taking complete and accurate jobsite photographs.
- Maintaining accurate daily documentation.
- Using Restore 365, Mitigate, DocuSketch, and other company technology.
- Ensuring technicians follow company procedures and safety requirements.
- Performing quality-control checks before leaving the jobsite.
- Maintaining and caring for company vehicles, tools, and restoration equipment.
- Helping train and develop newer restoration technicians.
- Communicating project conditions and changes to the Project Manager or Supervisor.
- Identifying conditions outside the approved scope and escalating them appropriately.
- Participating in emergency and after-hours response according to the position's schedule.
We're Looking for Restoration Experience
We're specifically looking for candidates who have previous experience in water damage restoration and structural drying.
The ideal candidate has experience with:
Water Extraction • Structural Drying • Moisture Mapping • Dehumidification • Air Movement • Controlled Demolition • Containment • Documentation • Customer Communication
Experience with commercial water losses is a major plus.
Certifications
IICRC Certifications Preferred
We're especially interested in candidates with:
- IICRC WRT – Water Damage Restoration Technician
- IICRC ASD – Applied Structural Drying
- IICRC AMRT – Applied Microbial Remediation Technician
Additional restoration, safety, or industry certifications are a plus.
We also value experience with asbestos/lead awareness and company-required sampling or testing procedures, where appropriately trained and authorized.
What Makes a Great Crew Chief?
Being technically good at restoration isn't enough.
A Crew Chief needs to be able to lead people and take ownership of the jobsite.
We're looking for someone who:
- Shows up and can be counted on.
- Leads by example.
- Works with urgency without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Can organize technicians and assign work effectively.
- Understands the principles behind structural drying—not just where to put equipment.
- Produces excellent documentation.
- Communicates professionally with customers.
- Takes pride in clean, organized jobsites.
- Protects the customer's property.
- Takes care of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Can teach less-experienced technicians.
- Recognizes problems and communicates them before they become bigger problems.
- Accepts accountability for the quality of the crew's work.
Technology & Documentation Matter
Modern restoration isn't just physical work.
Our Crew Chiefs are expected to accurately document what's happening on every project.
You'll work with technology including:
Restore 365 • Mitigate • DocuSketch • Moisture-Mapping Equipment • Mobile Documentation
If you've worked with other restoration platforms, that's fine. We'll train you on our specific systems.
But you must be comfortable using a smartphone/tablet and completing documentation in the field.
This Is a Working Leadership Position
Our Crew Chiefs don't stand back and watch technicians work.
You'll lead from the front.
That means you'll work alongside your crew when necessary while also making sure:
The job is safe.
The work is correct.
The equipment is right.
The documentation is complete.
The customer is informed.
And the crew knows what's next.

What We Offer
We're looking for experienced restoration professionals, and we believe experience should be recognized.
We offer:
- Competitive compensation based on experience and certifications.
- Full-time employment.
- Opportunities for overtime and emergency-response work as applicable.
- Paid training and continued education.
- Opportunities to earn additional IICRC certifications.
- Established restoration systems and equipment.
- Advancement opportunities.
- A career path within a growing restoration company.
Career Growth
For the right person, Crew Chief doesn't have to be the final destination.
A potential career path can look like:
Restoration Technician → Crew Chief → Supervisor → Project Manager → Production Leadership
We want people who are interested in building a career, not simply finding their next job.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should have:
- Previous professional water-damage/restoration experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water extraction and structural drying.
- Experience using moisture meters and drying equipment.
- Ability to lead technicians on active restoration projects.

- Strong jobsite documentation habits.
- Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and restoration software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

- Ability to meet the documented physical requirements of the position, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
- Availability for emergency-response/on-call work according to the position's established schedule.
IICRC WRT certification is strongly preferred.
Candidates with WRT + ASD and/or AMRT are especially encouraged to apply.
