The Singapore Food Agency’s mission is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food. The Food Business Department of the Authorisations Divisions is responsible for granting licences, permits and other authorisations for primary production (farms), non-retail, and retail food establishments, pesticide operations and registration of pesticides.
The officer will be part of a dynamic team in the Food Business Department of the Authorisations Division. You will be responsible for granting licences, permits and other authorisations to different food businesses. You will guide food businesses and individuals on processes and requirements to secure authorisations. You will also drive the review, refinement, and implementation of efficient processes for granting of authorisations.

Responsibilities

  • →Work with businesses to drive the non-retail food business authorisation and licensing processes, which includes:
    • →Conducting site assessment
    • →Evaluating the architectural layout plan, process flows and particulars of products
    • →Verification checks at the premises and make recommendations whether to grant a SFA licence to the applicant
    • →Guide applicants on interpretation of the licensing requirements
    • →Attend to public enquiries on licensing-related matters.

  • →Work on Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA) related regulatory and policy initiatives pertaining to the authorisation, licencing and permits framework.
  • →Drive reviews of work processes and standard operating procedures pertaining to licensing of food establishments, proposing process streamlining and digital automation where relevant.
  • →Work closely with relevant agencies on issues related to licensing of food establishments.
  • →Represent Department to participate in inter-agency projects, committees and working groups.
  • →Support the development of materials and engage stakeholders (e.g. other agencies and industry associations) as part of the regulatory and process reviews
  • →Involve in IT related projects and system review which include prepare licensing reports and provide data analysis.
  • →Involve in initiatives, projects and assignments that are directly or indirectly related to core duties and/or personal development.

  • A tertiary degree in Food Technology/Food Science/Biology/Biotechnology or other Science-related discipline.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and taking initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
  • Candidates with previous working experience in the food industry and knowledge in HACCP or Food Safety Management System may be preferred.
