Early Learning Center Recess Ambassador

- Reports to: Recreation Specialist, or in their absence, Deputy Principal
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Work Hours: 8:15am-2:15pm
- Hourly rate: $14 per hour
- Lunch Break:40 minutes
As a Recess Ambassador in the Early Learning Center (ELC), your primary role is to cultivate a safe, positive, and joyful recess environment for our youngest learners. You will be responsible for fostering meaningful student engagement, modeling positive social interactions during playtime, and ensuring active, safe supervision. Additionally, this role includes supporting and supervising students during their snack and lunch times, helping to maintain a nurturing environment throughout the entire midday routine.

Resource Management: Ensure recess zones are well-organized, clean, and adequately stocked with appropriate play equipment to facilitate diverse activities.
- Safety & Maintenance: Monitor the condition of all recess equipment and play spaces, promptly reporting any items requiring repair or replacement to ensure safety standards are met.
- Professional Growth: Actively participate in professional learning opportunities provided by SAS to enhance skills, knowledge, and best practices in early childhood supervision and care.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively within the ELC team to ensure a cohesive, efficient, and consistent recess experience across all zones.
- Operational Flexibility: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall safety and well-being of the school community.
Student Care & Engagement
- Active Supervision: Supervise and continuously circulate assigned recess zones to maintain high visibility and responsiveness.
- Conflict Resolution: Actively engage with students to guide problem-solving and conflict resolution in alignment with SAS values and ELC behavioral expectations.
- Behavioral Support: Partner and communicate effectively with Instructional Assistants and faculty regarding any notable behavioral patterns or serious incidents.
- Positive Play Promotion: Assist students in understanding playground and game rules, modeling inclusive activities to promote positive and collaborative play experiences.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and faculty.
- Incident Reporting: Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of students during all activities, addressing immediate needs and promptly reporting safety concerns or injuries to the appropriate personnel.
