SmithRx is a rapidly growing, venture-backed Health-Tech company. Our mission is to disrupt the expensive and inefficient Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) sector by building a next-generation drug acquisition platform driven by cutting edge technology, innovative cost saving tools, and best-in-class customer service. With hundreds of thousands of members onboarded since 2016, SmithRx has a solution that is resonating with clients all across the country.
We pride ourselves for our mission-driven and collaborative culture that inspires our employees to do their best work. We believe that the U.S healthcare system is in need of transformation, and we come to work each day dedicated to making that change a reality. At our core, we are guided by our company values:
- Integrity: Our purpose guides our actions and gives us confidence in the path ahead. With unwavering honesty and dependability, we embrace the pressure of challenging the old and exemplify ethical leadership to create the new.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, highly experimental VP of Growth Marketing to build and scale our revenue engine in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) space. PBM is a huge market that never got modern growth marketing. The job is to bring the gold standards other industries take for granted to one that isn't using them, and find the levers specific to how this market buys. Lots of ground to take.
In this role, you will build a team and a function dedicated to discovering, testing, and scaling the unique growth and engagement tactics that win in our industry. Managing a small but growing team, you will architect a culture of rapid experimentation, holding a healthy tolerance for failure as long as it drives fast, actionable learning.
Responsibilities
~3 min read- →Architect an Experimentation Engine: Build a culture of high-velocity testing across messaging, channels, and outreach strategies. Manage a rigorous pipeline of growth experiments, pivoting quickly from failures and scaling what works.
- →Discover PBM-Specific Growth Levers: Work with Sales and Product to find the channels and partnership loops that land with complex healthcare buyers and the brokers who advise them. Build for both motions: selling direct to employers, and winning through the broker channel that drives much of PBM selection. It's regulated, so build compliance in as you go.
- →Manage & Scale a Hybrid Team: Run Growth as GTM Engineering: Lead the current Growth Ops and BDR team toward sharper targeting and automation. Build a human-and-agent operating model: agents doing research and personalization at scale, people directing strategy and creative.
- →Build a Technical Growth Pod: Empower this technical pod to build bespoke internal growth tools, engineer new acquisition loops, and test technical hypotheses that standard marketers can't execute.
- →Creative and rigorous: You have the ability to generate bold, high-variance ideas. You also hold them to hard measurement. Both halves matter: the creative swings, and the discipline to know which ones actually worked.
- →First-Principles Thinker: You don't just copy/paste the B2B SaaS playbook. You have a proven ability to evaluate complex, nuanced markets (like healthcare, fintech, etc) and design bespoke growth strategies from scratch.
- →Scientific Mindset: You treat growth as a science. You have a strong track record of designing rigorous tests, a high tolerance for failed experiments, and a relentless focus on capturing and applying learnings.
- →Full-Funnel & Outbound Expertise: You understand how to experiment with outbound sales cadences, BDR metrics, and pipeline generation just as well as digital acquisition.
- →Technical Acumen: You know how to deploy technical talent (Growth PMs and Developers) to build programmatic growth engines, run complex tests, and bypass traditional marketing limitations.
- →AI-Powered Experimentation: You go past using ChatGPT to write emails. You use AI/LLM agents for account research and personalized outbound at scale (Clay, Cargo, agent tooling), and you build the team around that model.
- →Growth Architecture: You are comfortable designing workflows across modern growth stacks. You have hands-on experience with advanced data enrichment, behavioral product analytics (e.g., PostHog, Amplitude), intent-signaling platforms, and conversion optimization tools (e.g., Mutiny, VWO).
- →No-Code / Low-Code Operations: You and your Growth Ops lead can move fast without waiting on IT. You know how to use modern LLM platforms to build the tools and infrastructure you need.
- →Proven Leader with Hands-On Experience: 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, demand generation, or revenue operations at a high-growth, venture-backed startup.
