ABOUT THE ROLE:
Within Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets combines research, execution, risk management, and multi-asset structuring capabilities to deliver client-focused market solutions. The Head of Operational Risk Management, Americas provides senior first-line operational risk leadership and oversight across the MARK AMER perimeter. The role is responsible for maintaining a robust, proportionate, and forward-looking operational risk and supervisory control framework, providing effective challenge to the business, coordinating business-line and transversal ORM activities, and ensuring that material risks, incidents, control weaknesses, and remediation actions are identified, escalated, governed, and resolved. The position works closely with MARK management and partners across Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations, Technology, Finance, Audit, and global ORM teams.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership, Governance and Senior Management Support
Lead and coordinate the MARK AMER Operational Risk Management function, setting priorities, promoting consistent standards, and developing team capability across business-line and transversal responsibilities.
Lead the remediation of Federal Reserve Matter Requiring Immediate Attention (MRIAs) by driving end-to-end governance, risk assessment, control framework enhancement, regulatory engagement, and executive reporting, ensuring timely, sustainable remediation of critical regulatory findings and strengthening the firm's operational risk management framework.
Chair MARK AMER governance Committees, including breach management, supervisory governance, incident accountability, and other forums assigned to ORM.
Act as the senior ORM point of contact for MARK AMER management and provide concise, decision-oriented reporting on material operational and conduct risks, emerging themes, control weaknesses, and remediation progress.
Coordinate MARK contributions to key governance forums, including Operational and Conduct Risk reporting, SGUS and SGCC operational risk committees, trading control governance, control framework forums, stress testing, reputational risk, and crisis response committees.
Provide operational risk leadership across various roles including Chief Operational Risk Officer for MARK AMER, regional Trading Control Officer liaison, MARK BCP Officer, Culture and Conduct Oversight Officer, AML / Antifraud Oversight Officer
Operational Risk Framework and Oversight
Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring, and escalation of operational and conduct risks across Equities, Fixed Income and Currencies, and transversal activities in the Americas.
Ensure high-quality execution of incident management, issue management, action plan oversight, client complaints validation, data leakage incident oversight, breach management, and non-financial risk trading incident governance.
Lead thematic analysis of incidents, control failures, audit and regulatory findings, and key risk indicators to identify emerging risks, recurring patterns, and structural weaknesses, and translate findings into practical management actions.
Coordinate the MARK AMER RCSA and APRC or blueprint processes, ensuring complete process coverage, appropriate risk assessment, effective challenge, timely completion, and clear linkage to the control environment.
Oversee policy and normative document management for the perimeter, including ownership, review, approval, implementation, and communication of applicable requirements.
Coordinate transversal remediation arising from Compliance testing, second-line reviews, internal audit, regulatory examinations, and self-identified issues, with clear accountability, realistic milestones, and evidence-based closure.
Provide oversight of operational resilience, third-party risk, data governance, regulatory controls, and other cross-cutting risk programs relevant to MARK AMER.
Supervisory and Trading Control Framework
Oversee the effectiveness of high-priority trading controls in the Americas, escalate local control design or performance issues, and maintain alignment with global trading control governance.
Provide senior oversight of the front-office supervisory framework, including supervisory hierarchies, Written Supervisory Procedures, checklists, delegated reviews, quality assurance, training, exception management, and supporting governance.
Coordinate oversight of material regulatory and supervisory topics, which may include trade reporting, CAT, TRACE, best execution, electronic and algorithmic trading, market access, communications surveillance, conflicts of interest, AML and anti-fraud, Volcker, and related control frameworks.
Challenge the quality and proportionality of first-line controls and ensure that identified exceptions are investigated, escalated, remediated, and tracked in partnership with the relevant business and control functions.
Transformation, Efficiency and Stakeholder Management
Drive simplification, automation, and continuous improvement of ORM processes, dashboards, governance, and reporting while preserving strong risk oversight and regulatory credibility.
Oversee the transition or delegation of activities to regional support locations, ensuring clear accountability, appropriate training, effective quality controls, and no material gaps in risk coverage.
Build strong, constructive relationships with senior business stakeholders and partner functions, applying independent judgment, transparent communication, and timely escalation where risk acceptance or remediation is required.
Represent MARK AMER ORM in regional and global initiatives and ensure that local regulatory, business, and control requirements are appropriately reflected in global frameworks and decisions.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional qualification is a plus.
FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, Series 63, and Series 24 registrations are required.
Extensive experience in operational risk, front-office supervision, compliance, audit, controls, operations, or a comparable role within a global financial institution, with significant exposure to capital markets.
Demonstrated experience leading teams or providing functional leadership across a complex matrix organization.
Experience interacting with senior business management, control functions, auditors, and regulators, and managing sensitive issues requiring clear judgment and escalation.
Experience across multiple products and front-to-back processes, including broker-dealer and trading activities in the United States and the broader Americas.

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
