Our client, a thriving global publicly traded technology leader, is looking for its first AI Innovation Specialist to join the corporate Law Department. This is a newly created, high-impact individual contributor role, designed to drive the identification and deployment of strategic AI-driven solutions across the department.  Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel, the AI Innovation Specialist will serve as a dedicated specialist, responsible for the adoption of AI tools to power legal work and serving as a solution builder and strategic advisor. You will play a key role in identifying opportunities to optimize critical legal workflows, ensuring successful adoption and improving the overall effectiveness of the legal department.
  • Lead the design and implementation of automation and AI solutions for legal processes, helping teams streamline workflows and adopt new AI-powered solutions.
  • Work with external vendors to assess, select, and implement third-party AI and automation solutions that meet the requirements of the legal teams and their internal clients.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to enable AI tools for case management support, risk analysis, summarization, drafting, document review, and reporting, among other use cases.
  • Assist legal teams in the full lifecycle of automation projects, including identifying needs, gathering requirements, managing implementations, and driving post-deployment adoption.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across legal platforms and coordinate resolution with IT and vendor support teams.
  • Advise legal operations and procurement teams on best practices to scale the impact of AI tools while ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Provide thought leadership on the future of legal technology, particularly automation and AI, guiding legal teams in embracing these innovations.
  • Collaborate with legal, cross-functional, and IT teams to align automation and AI projects with broader business objectives and legal priorities.
  • Coordinate across key internal stakeholders, including IT, Finance, Internal Audit, and Business Units, as well as legal leadership, to drive measurable impact.
  • Support change management initiatives to ensure the smooth adoption of new tools and processes across the legal department.
  • Create and execute communication plans and user training to inform and support stakeholders of new technology implementations, enhancements, and process changes.
  • Track key performance metrics as needed, such as cycle times, cost savings, and user adoption rates, to ensure continuous improvement. 
  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, legal technology, or technical roles supporting legal teams, with a focus on automation and AI.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, including system administration and workflow automation.
  • Deep understanding of legal processes, contracting, and stakeholder dynamics within large organizations.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience implementing AI-driven technologies within a legal department.
  • Deep understanding of AI tools used in the legal industry (e.g., AI-powered legal research, document review, risk assessment).
  • Possess excellent problem-solving abilities and can translate legal business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in large-scale projects/programs, preferably in a Legal department.
  • Ability to balance technical and business considerations in the development of AI and automation solutions.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills across legal, procurement, and business stakeholders. Experience with CLM tools, redlining workflows, document review platforms and other legal tools.
  • A background demonstrating technical fluency, such as a CS, Engineering, or Math degree, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI/ML applications and hands-on experience with LLM tools.
  • Experience or proficiency with no-code/low-code platforms for workflow automation
