Scope of the Role 

We are seeking a skilled accountant/bookkeeper with extensive experience in managing financial operations within the restaurant and real estate sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles coupled with specialized knowledge in restaurant accounting practices.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Oversee the financial management of our three restaurants, including but not limited to, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, tracking expenses, monitoring revenue, and preparing financial reports. This includes bookkeeping, weekly, monthly, and quarterly budgeting and financial reporting.
• Manage the financial aspects of our various real estate holdings, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, tracking rental income, and overseeing property-related expenses.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to optimize efficiency and mitigate risks.
• Filing and processing monthly sales tax returns for all restaurant locations as well as annual tax filings for all real property
• Prepare financial statements in preparation for annual tax returns
• Process payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable for all employees, vendors, and independent contractors

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on restaurant accounting preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required; experience with payroll software such as Gusto.com and Squareup.com is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Prior experience working remotely and independently is desirable.
