We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based biotech venture and investment platform. We co-found, capitalize, and advise a portfolio of development-stage therapeutics companies, backing experimental medicines with global reach and large unmet medical need.

Our operations span several related entities — the advisory business, an affiliated venture vehicle, portfolio positions, and related holdings. We are small, founder-led, and entrepreneurial, which means the person in this seat will have unusual visibility across the business and unusual room to shape how it runs.

This is a build role, not a maintenance seat.

We are hiring one person to own accounting across all of our entities and, at the same time, help design the finance function itself — the systems, the controls, and the reporting cadence — most of which does not formally exist yet. Today this work lives in QuickBooks, spreadsheets, and Dropbox, and it has outgrown that setup as the platform has scaled.

We are hiring with the explicit intent of growing this person into Controller, and then CFO, as the business grows. The right candidate is someone who can run a clean monthly close now, keep multiple entities cleanly separated, and grow into ownership of investor reporting, tax, and strategic finance over time.

Monthly Close & Financial Reporting

• →Own the general ledger, journal entries, and the integrity of the books across all entities
• →Perform monthly reconciliations of all accounts, including bank and credit card
• →Prepare balance sheets, P&Ls, and monthly financial reporting packages
• →Own and maintain the monthly close calendar; deliver a quarterly QuickBooks reporting package

Transactions, AP/AR & Entity Discipline

• →Manage the full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycle, including invoice processing
• →Handle day-to-day transactions: verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording data
• →Resolve purchase order, invoice, and payment discrepancies
• →Review all charges weekly to confirm each is booked to the correct entity
• →Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations; prepare 1099s and manage vendor records

Multi-Entity Budgeting & Cost Tracking

• →Maintain budget tracking for each portfolio company and operating entity
• →Classify financial data by project and cost description across QuickBooks, billing software, and supporting spreadsheets
• →Partner with managers to forecast costs, timelines, and project budgets accurately
• →Track cash position and runway across entities; identify and recommend cost-reducing solutions

Investor, Cap Table & Waterfall Reporting

• →Track shareholder values monthly across holdings, including peak market value
• →Maintain and build cap tables across entities
• →Build and maintain distribution waterfalls, including tiered preferences across investor and licensor classes
• →Track investor drawdowns and support capital calls

Licensing, Milestones & Royalties

• →Maintain reference summaries ("cheat sheets") for all license agreements
• →Track milestone payments and royalty obligations against agreement terms

Tax Coordination

• →Work with our outside accounting firm on K-1 preparation and biotech/R&D credits
• →Review expenses to surface deductions and write-offs, including ones we haven't considered
• →Grow into direct ownership of the tax relationship over time

Systems, Controls & Records

• →Help design the systems and procedures for a finance function being built from scratch
• →Maintain organized records in Dropbox: contracts, budgets, cost tracking, reports, invoices, proposals, permits, and related documentation
• →Operate within and help strengthen internal controls, including access restrictions and separation of payment authority from recordkeeping
• →Keep the books audit-ready: clean workpapers, pre-audit self-reviews, and schedules prepared for outside accountants, auditors, and diligence reviews

Strategic & Transaction Support

• →Perform financial due diligence on prospective partners and acquisition opportunities
• →Contribute financial input to operational strategy discussions where the numbers shape the decision

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a monthly close cycle
• Strong QuickBooks proficiency and advanced spreadsheet skills
• Comfort working across multiple entities and keeping them cleanly separated
• Absolute discretion with sensitive financial, investor, and personal information

• CPA, EA, or actively on a credential track
• Exposure to venture, private investment, or family-office reporting: cap tables, K-1s, capital calls, distributions, waterfalls
• Life sciences or biotech exposure, or genuine appetite to learn how development-stage biotech budgets, vendors, and cash flows work
• Experience standing up accounting systems and procedures where none existed

• Highly organized and detail-obsessed — nothing slips through, and your workpapers could survive an audit
• An owner, not an order-taker — you chase down discrepancies without being asked and build the process rather than waiting for one
