Position Summary:
As the Financial Analyst, you will conduct comprehensive financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to align with business objectives. Your key responsibilities will include preparing and analyzing financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, developing financial models to evaluate business performance and cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic initiatives through market trend analysis and competitive benchmarking.
You will assist in month-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting, partner with department leaders to provide valuable financial insights, and prepare periodic financial reports and dashboards to help departments achieve their targets. Collaboration with project management teams will be essential as you deliver financial analysis for various projects and identify areas for improvement in costing models.
Additionally, you will proactively resolve project-related issues, support the accounting team in enhancing processes, and assist in preparing month-end and year-end reporting packages, including account reconciliations and variance analysis. Your role will also involve leading the development of financial procedures, participating in year-end audit preparations, and responding to inquiries regarding financial transactions.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to support business objectives.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop financial models to assess business performance, profitability, and cost efficiencies.
- Support strategic initiatives by analyzing market trends, competitive benchmarks, and industry best practices.
- Assist in month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
- Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and decision-making support.
- Prepare and present periodic financial reports and dashboards to assist departments in meeting targets.
- Collaborate with project management teams to provide financial analysis and support for various projects.
- Identify areas for improvement in costing models and standardization of products.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems or obstacles within projects.
- Support other members of the accounting team to continuously improve processes and procedures
- Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end reporting packages, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Lead or support in the development and formalization of financial procedures and processes.
- Participate in year-end audit preparation and respond to inquiries related to financial transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting
- CPA designation or candidate status is an asset
- Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Sage 300) is an asset
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Sound critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in financial modeling
- Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to all levels of management
- Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently with limited supervision
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills
- Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills
