About the Role: We are seeking a versatile Systems & Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our client’s hybrid cloud infrastructure and core databases. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining high uptime, accelerating database query performance, and safeguarding sensitive healthcare data across LATAM and African operating regions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to architect seamless deployment pipelines, safeguard operational integrity, and tackle complex system performance challenges with high technical autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) and database systems to guarantee high availability and peak performance for healthcare platforms.

• Monitor system health, execute automated backup protocols, and lead disaster recovery exercises to minimize recovery point objectives (RPO).

• Optimize complex SQL queries, index structures, and database schemas to reduce latency and improve application response times by at least 20%.

• Implement robust security protocols, access controls, and patch management schedules to ensure full compliance with global and healthcare data protection standards (e.g., HIPAA).

• Automate routine administrative tasks and infrastructure deployment pipelines using scripting tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform).

• Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure or database incidents within agreed SLA timelines, performing thorough root-cause analyses.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams to design scalable data models and support seamless application releases.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience managing Linux/Windows environments and relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) (Required).

• Proven experience in cloud administration (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible (Required).

• Strong proficiency in database tuning, query optimization, backup/restore strategies, and replication protocols (Required).

• Fluency in professional written and spoken English for effective collaboration with international teams (Required).

• Relevant technical certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Database Administrator, or PostgreSQL Professional (Preferred).

• Experience working as a remote independent contractor within distributed, multi-timezone teams (Preferred).
