About the Role: The Logistics Specialist is responsible for monitoring and managing temperature-sensitive shipments during evenings, overnight hours, and weekends to ensure uninterrupted cold-chain operations. Working independently during off-hours, this role serves as the primary point of oversight for active shipments by tracking freight movement, identifying transit exceptions, coordinating with carriers, communicating proactively with customers, and maintaining accurate logistics records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly autonomous, and thrives in fast-paced logistics environments where timely decision-making and operational precision are critical.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor real-time movement of temperature-controlled shipments across multiple carriers and logistics partners

Track shipment milestones, courier transitions, and estimated delivery times

Identify and respond proactively to delays, missed connections, and delivery exceptions

Provide timely updates to customers regarding shipment delays or changes

Respond to off-hours shipment inquiries from customers and carriers

Escalate urgent delivery issues to the appropriate logistics partners

Prepare clear shift handoff notes for the daytime operations team

Investigate delayed or stalled shipments through carrier portals and phone outreach

Coordinate with carriers to resolve delivery issues efficiently

Maintain accurate shipment records within internal logistics systems and ERPs

Ensure data accuracy across shipment tracking systems

Identify recurring logistics issues and recommend process improvements

Support continuous improvement of shipping workflows and operational reporting
Requirements

2+ years of experience in logistics, freight coordination, supply chain operations, dispatch, or track-and-trace monitoring

Experience managing high-volume or time-sensitive shipments

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Proficiency with logistics software, ERP systems, carrier portals, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and intermediate Excel/Google Sheets

Ability to work independently during evenings, overnight shifts, or weekends with minimal supervision

Experience supporting cold-chain logistics or highly perishable products (food, pharmaceuticals, etc.)

Familiarity with U.S. domestic shipping networks and carrier exception management

Experience working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and freight carriers
