Role: Marketing Strategist
Priority Location: Global
Working Hours: 9AM - 5PM (Mon - Fri) UK time
Salary Range: $1,500 - $2,000 USD ($) per month
(The final offer is at the client’s discretion and depends on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience.)
Type of contract: Independent Contractor
Type of job: Remote
The Seat:
We are the outsourced marketing department for around a dozen UK restaurant brands. Clients hitting £100k weeks, videos past 20 million views, number one spots on TripAdvisor. Behind that sits Slate, our own operating platform, and an AI-heavy stack that runs scheduling, client portals and per-client agents.
This role is the Creative Director's right hand, and the last pair of eyes before anything reaches a client. She owns the creative. Our Marketing Operations Lead owns the systems and the technical build. You own the month: what goes out and when, that it is right, and that the client feels looked after the whole way through.
So there are two halves. One is quality: nothing reaches a client that you have not checked yourself, and nothing goes out late. The other is the relationship. When a client messages, you are who answers. When they ask for something, you are who turns it into a brief the team can build from. When a cut comes back, you are who watches it properly first.
This is a dynamic, fast moving role that changes week to week. As a fast growing agency, sometimes there is not a playbook, which means we are looking for someone who is excited by change and ready to get stuck in. What does not change is the high quality standard we hold ourselves to. We are meticulous, and that is why we get results. Now we are looking for a marketing expert who cares about detail, delivery and customer experience just as much as we do.
The Core of the Role:
- Be the last check before a client sees anything: cuts, captions, covers, links, automations, dates. If it is wrong, it stops with you.
- Own a portfolio of clients day to day: the relationship, the month ahead, and the experience of working with us
- Run the content schedule across that portfolio: pieces prepped, covers chosen, dates set, nothing going out unchecked or late
- Turn what a client asks for into a brief the creative team can build from without coming back to you for the missing half
- Review and approve cuts before they reach a client, and give editors feedback specific enough to act on
- Run monthly check-in calls, and know your clients well enough to say what should change next month
- Keep each client's DM and comment automations accurate and tested · our Marketing Operations Lead builds them, you are the one who checks they still say the right thing for that brand
- Support the Creative Director so her time goes on creative and shoots rather than admin.
What You’ll Do:
- Take a brief, confirm it back in a few lines, then deliver it end to end
- Handle client WhatsApp and email yourself, in our voice, without needing every message checked first
- Click every link, test-message every flow, and attach the evidence when you report it done
- Comment on and approve editor cuts, chase the revisions, keep the pipeline moving so nothing sits waiting on you
- Run casting where a shoot needs it: the call, the emails, the coordination
- Coordinate production days, and be the calm one when a shoot day moves
- Notice when a client's own information is wrong or out of date, and say so rather than copying it forward
- Escalate anything you are stuck on inside 30 minutes, with what you have already ruled out
- Close each day in your own words: what shipped, what is verified, what is blocked, tomorrow’s one priority
- Keep everything in Slate. It is the one system of record, and priorities live there the moment they are agreed
How We Work:
- Paid trial before anything permanent · one to two weeks on real work at the full rate. Execution does not show up on a CV.
- Definition of Done here = verified outcome plus evidence, every time
- One source of truth: our internal system, Slate. Our knowledge, projects and task lists live in the system.
- Everything client-facing gets a two-minute check against their own site, files or listings before it goes out
- We are responsive and consistent, and we work as a team
- Remote, async-friendly, with real UK working-hours overlap
Inside the Setup:
- Slate · our own platform (Next.js, Supabase) running scheduling, tasks, client portals and finance
- ManyChat for DM and comment automations, Buffer for scheduling, Frame.io for content review, Meta Business Suite
- Claude and AI agents in daily production use, including automations clients pay for
- A small senior team: founder, creative director, marketing operations lead, lead editor and editors
The Ideal Person:
- Two to four years in marketing operations, social media management, account management or agency delivery. This is a doing role rather than a strategy-deck role.
- Comfortable being the client's main point of contact. You can hold a check-in call, say no politely, and come off a difficult message without needing to be talked down afterwards.
- You verify by reflex. You would not tell someone a link works without clicking it, and you would rather find the mistake than have a client find it.
- Confident with AI in day to day marketing work: drafting, research, and checking what it produces before anyone else sees it.
- You look before you ask. If the answer is on the client's website or in the shared folder, you have already found it.
- Organised in public: your work is visible in the system without anyone having to ask where things are.
- Comfortable juggling several clients at once without one of them going quiet because the others got loud.
- Comfortable with hospitality rhythms · evenings and weekends carry activity, and responsiveness matters more than fixed hours.
- Bonus: ManyChat, Buffer or Later, Meta Business Suite, Canva, experience in a restaurant or hospitality marketing setting.
