The role will join the KKR Global Tax team, a world-class team of tax professionals dedicated to supporting KKR’s global investment activities. Led by the Global Head of Tax based out of New York, the team encompasses experts in various areas of taxation, including transaction structuring, compliance, and strategic planning. With a global presence and a focus on collaboration, KKR Global Tax plays a pivotal role in guiding the firm’s tax strategy and ensuring compliance with tax regulations across jurisdictions. The Tax Compliance Assistant Vice President will be a member of KKR’s Global Tax Team and an integral part of the Global Tax Compliance group. This role will report to the Head of Insurance Tax and will be responsible for managing the U.S. insurance group’s tax compliance function.
This role will include oversight of the firm’s insurance tax compliance, working closely with both internal controllership teams and external Big 4 service providers to create effective connections between recurring tax activities and the firm’s broader strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in insurance taxation, as well as experience managing external advisors and internal stakeholder relationships across a complex, global organization.
Responsibilities

- →Manage the insurance tax compliance function, including oversight of federal, state, local, and non-U.S. corporate and partnership income tax returns, insurance premium tax filings, insurance excise tax returns, and related estimated tax payments.
- →Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders across Tax, Finance, and Controllership and assist with ensuring alignment of compliance activities with financial reporting and strategic goals.
- →Coordinate closely with the insurance tax structuring and planning teams to ensure new transactions, reinsurance arrangements, and entity formations are appropriately captured in tax filings.
- →Work closely with external service providers—including accounting firms, advisors, and consultants—ensuring high-quality deliverables, efficient project management, and appropriate use of resources.
- →Monitor and analyze new tax legislation, regulatory changes, and administrative developments, understand their potential impact on the company’s insurance operations and ensure the implementation of necessary adjustments.
- →Support audit and examination activities with federal, state, and local tax authorities, including coordination with external tax advisors for information requests and the preparation of supporting documentation.
- →Drive continuous improvement and process optimization, including tax technology enhancements, workflow automation, documentation, and strengthened internal controls.
Requirements
~2 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Taxation and/or CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant experience in public accounting and/or insurance industry tax departments.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. insurance company tax rules, including life and non-life taxation, reinsurance, and related filing requirements.
- Working knowledge of insurance excise tax and multi-state insurance tax regimes, including premium, retaliatory, and franchise tax considerations.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale compliance projects, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with corporate objectives.
- Demonstrated success in building productive relationships with management, finance, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

This is the expected annual base salary range for this Boston-based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
