Manager Engineer

Manager Engineer:

• Design, develop, implement, document, and test changes to an application microservice

• Initiate design reviews for new applications and adhere to software development standards

• Assist with continuous build and release processes

• Support production application and incident response

• Ensure application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant with Company standards and practices

• Implement all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data

• Establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology teams

• Support the development team and perform activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion

• Manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives

• Conduct research and make recommendations on standards, products, and services in support of Starbucks Technology

• Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment

• Uphold company policies, and legal/regulatory requirements, such as (but not limited to) SOX and PCI

• Provide support to team members to achieve partner, business, and customer results

• Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics

• Drive the engagement, development, and performance of all members of their team

• Ensure efficient use of tech to reduce carbon footprint in support of Starbucks’s planet-positive goals

• Implement and maintain system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards 

• Implement service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems

• Implement deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics

Telecommuting permitted up to 20% per week.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Pay Range: $219,017 to $270,300 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in software development industry.

Must have 5 years of experience in managing systems or application development projects of all sizes and complexities, including large systems.

Must have 5 years of experience in implementing and managing software that operates efficiently in high-concurrency, redundant, low-latency mission critical environments. 

Must have 5 years of experience with cloud native infrastructure automation.

Must have 3 years of experience in building and managing high-performing engineering teams.

Must have 3 years of experience in developing and supporting highly-concurrent applications with JVM-based languages, including Scala and Kotlin.

Must have 3 years of experience in designing and operating distributed systems in cloud-native environments.

Must have 3 years of experience with message-based systems in high-volume, low-latency environments.

Must have 3 years of experience with container orchestration and cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes and GitOps tools.

Must have 3 years of experience with designing and optimizing distributed data storage solutions, and building applications leveraging these storage solutions.
