St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), invites applicants for a full-time, 9-month position as a faculty in the developing Department of Occupational Therapy, beginning August 2027. St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission of educating the hearts and minds of a diverse student body deeply committed to social justice. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing curriculum, content, and teaching in the areas of applied anatomy, physical disfunction (Adult/Gero/Neuro), and mental health. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the student recruitment and admissions process; advising students; providing service to the department, university, and community as strategically planned and appointed; participating in scholarly endeavors; and other duties assigned by the OT Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a doctoral degree awarded by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body. The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy.
  • Must be licensed as an occupational therapist in Texas.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
  • Must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.

  • Teaching Delivery/Learning Facilitation – Manages small, large, blended, hybrid, and/or online classrooms; monitors and tracks participation; and manages time and attention effectively.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Works effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, student body, alumni, and community.
  • Models' inclusive excellence through actions that support the university's diversity commitment.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures established by St. Edward's University.

 

Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have an interest in and the ability or potential to teach undergraduate/graduate courses, as well as support a diverse student body.

  • Prepares and delivers course instruction as assigned.
  • Maintains an environment conducive to learning and facilitate student participation.
  • Assesses student performance, monitors student progress, and provides timely feedback.
  • Advises OT students with academic, professional, and/or personal issues.
  • Establishes a scholarship plan and participates in scholarly work commensurate with university standards.
  • Serves on programmatic and university committees as assigned.
  • Serves as university liaison in community and/or professional activities.
  • Supports students in community service initiatives on a rotating basis.
  • Advances the vision of the profession and deliver new ideas with a forward-looking perspective of clinical education.
  • Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.
  • Develops community relationships as appropriate to course content and manages and maintains relationships with existing sites when teaching responsibilities include fieldwork experiences.
  • Communicates with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., clinical education sites/facilities, faculty, and students) to maintain current with policies and practices of the educational program.
  • Supports and enhances the policies and procedures for active learning experiences for the students in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
