The Head of Technology & AI plays a pivotal role in transforming how STS Capital Partners executes M&A transactions. The role evaluates the firm’s technology stack and business processes, identifying how CRM and AI tools can drive smarter execution, sharper insights, and greater efficiency across the deal lifecycle. The Head of Technology & AI combines technical expertise in financial services with commercial acumen, ensuring technology directly enhances the quality and speed of deal execution. The role owns the long-term technology and AI roadmap and strategy, ensuring that investments in technology deliver measurable ROI and meaningful business impact.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive review of the firm’s existing technology stack.
- Map and analyze workflows across the M&A transaction process, identifying opportunities for automation and optimization.
- Design and deploy AI-powered solutions to streamline data collection, financial analysis, due diligence, market
- research, document automation, and client communications.
- Collaborate with leadership, deal teams, and IT to design pilots, proofs of concept, and enterprise-scale rollouts.
- Establish metrics to measure technology adoption, AI impact, and ROI across deal execution.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI trends, regulations, and best practices in financial advisory and professional services.
- Manage vendor relationships for third-party technology and AI solutions, ensuring seamless integration with internal systems.
- Partner with Balanced+ to optimize strategic technology initiatives.
- Provide training and support to drive adoption of AI and core platforms across the firm.
- Define and enforce data governance, privacy, and security protocols, including compliance with GDPR, POPIA, and other relevant regulations.
- Safeguard sensitive client data by ensuring best-in-class cybersecurity practices and responsible AI use.
- Deliver regular reporting and recommendations to leadership on technology performance and business impact.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
- Experience applying AI, machine learning, or technology-driven process improvements in a business context (ideally within financial services, M&A, or professional services).
- Strong understanding of mid-market M&A transaction processes and common technology stacks.
- Hands-on exposure to AI and automation tools such as natural language processing (NLP), robotic process automation (RPA), machine learning platforms, and data analytics software.
- Proven track record of assessing business needs, implementing technology solutions, and delivering measurable improvements.
- Practical experience optimizing and integrating core enterprise platforms, including CRM (Dynamics), data & analytics tools (PitchBook, Capital IQ, Power BI), AI solutions (Claude AI, Otter.ai), and workflow/collaboration systems (Smartsheet, Monday.com, Teams, Zoom).
