Superintendent – Data Center Electrical Construction

Industrial Power Solutions, a Sundt Company, is seeking an experienced traveling Superintendent with a proven background in mission critical data center electrical construction. This role is responsible for leading field operations on large-scale data center projects across the United States, ensuring safe, high quality installation of complex electrical systems while driving schedule performance, productivity, and quality standards.

The Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers, General Superintendents, customers, and field leadership teams to successfully deliver fast-paced mission critical projects. This position requires extensive experience with data center electrical infrastructure, strong field leadership skills, and the ability to travel nationwide to support project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily electrical field operations including manpower planning, crew coordination, workface planning, and production management.
• Ensure all work is installed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project requirements, electrical codes, and customer standards.
• Coordinate field activities with forepersons, subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners.
• Drive productivity while maintaining the highest levels of safety and workmanship.

• Oversee installation of mission critical electrical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, grounding systems, raceway systems, and power distribution infrastructure.
• Coordinate electrical installation activities with other trades and project stakeholders.
• Identify constructability issues, field conflicts, and schedule impacts while developing solutions to keep work progressing.

• Execute project schedules through short interval planning and daily production management.
• Monitor manpower and productivity to ensure milestone achievement.
• Participate in owner, contractor, and trade coordination meetings.
• Support project leadership in maintaining schedule and budget objectives.

• Enforce site safety programs and OSHA compliance requirements.
• Lead safety meetings, jobsite inspections, and field audits.
• Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and customer expectations.
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

• Maintain daily reports, manpower reports, production tracking, and progress updates.
• Communicate jobsite conditions, risks, and project status to project leadership.
• Support resolution of field conflicts, RFIs, and installation challenges.

• Provide leadership and direction to forepersons, electricians, and subcontractor teams.
• Mentor and develop field personnel while building high performing teams.
• Foster a positive, safety focused, and production driven culture.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 to 12 years of electrical construction experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Superintendent or field leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience leading mission critical or data center electrical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience with manpower management, scheduling, and trade coordination.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Ability and willingness to travel nationwide for extended project assignments.

• Data center experience with hyperscale clients and mission critical facilities.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction software.
• Journeyman electrician background or equivalent field experience.
• Experience managing large electrical crews on fast-track construction projects.

• Work in active construction environments including walking job sites, climbing ladders, and accessing elevated work areas.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as required.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment at all times on job sites.
• Extensive travel to project locations nationwide is required.
