Internship positions may include competitive hourly pay, hands-on industry experience, mentorship from experienced leaders, and exposure to professional projects in agribusiness operations. Students seeking academic credit are welcome. The company is willing to coordinate with the student’s college or university and complete any required paperwork to facilitate academic credit.

 

The Farm Production Intern will support day-to-day operations at a commercial turfgrass farm. This internship provides hands-on experience in turfgrass establishment, maintenance, harvesting, and quality control within a professional agricultural environment. Interns will gain exposure to modern turfgrass production systems, including sod farming, irrigation management, pest and nutrient programs, and equipment operation.

Working alongside farm managers, agronomists, and equipment operators, the intern will assist in maintaining high-quality turfgrass used for residential, commercial, and sports applications. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing degrees in turfgrass science, agronomy, horticulture, plant science, agricultural business, or related fields.

  • Basic understanding of agronomy, turfgrass management, or crop production principles.
  • Familiarity with agricultural equipment and tools preferred.
  • Observant in identifying turf quality issues or irregularities.
  • Accurate in data collection and recordkeeping.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with farm staff and supervisors.
  • Punctual, dependable, and willing to learn.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions while also recognizing and reporting issues.

 

Responsibilities

This position requires no supervisory responsibility.

This job operates in exposure to direct sunlight and weather 90% of the time. This employee will operate equipment daily including but not limited to tractors, harvesters, forklifts, spraying and spreading equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This employee requires full range of motion of arms and legs and requires constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.

 

This is an internship position designed for the summer semester, 10-12 weeks is the expected duration. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Farm Manager; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

  1. Customer Service experience
  2. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals
  3. Ability to solve practical industry related problems.
  4. Professional or educational experience in turfgrass science, agronomy, horticulture, plant science, agricultural business, or related fields.
  5. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
Hourly Pay Range
$15$20 USD
