As Scientific Affairs Manager, you will deliver the scientific rigour behind our innovation and claims agenda across our adult and pet nutrition portfolio. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Head of Scientific Innovation, you will translate nutrition science, clinical evidence and emerging ingredients into scientifically accurate, clinically relevant documentation that supports product efficacy and claims. Your work will help build, maintain and protect Swisse’s unique brand position, while identifying new opportunities for scientifically differentiated innovation in ANZ and globally. You will partner with Product Development, Regulatory and Commercial teams to progress products from early concept through development and launch, while supervising and developing team members and building the evidence and capability that strengthens the Swisse product pipeline.

    Supervise and implement scientific affairs support across the H&H Group's adult specialist nutrition portfolio, in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Head of Scientific Innovation and other senior staff members from both the ANZ and global business.

    Generate scientifically accurate and clinically relevant review documentation to support product development efficacy and claims.

    Drive opportunities for new and scientifically differentiated innovation within the ANZ market as well as globally.

    Partner with Product Development, Regulatory and Commercial teams to progress products from early concept through development and launch.

    Support build, maintain and protect Swisse’s unique brand position by building the evidence and capability that strengthens the Swisse product pipeline.

 

Requirements

We look for people who have what it takes to make an impact; who can challenge us to go further while pushing themselves to deliver exciting & ambitious results.  

To make sure we’re setting new starters up for success, we ask that you meet a few criteria relevant to the role to be considered for this opportunity: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nutrition, food science, biomedical science, pharmaceutical science, biotechnology, chemistry or another relevant scientific discipline. 

  • >5 years’ experience within the health and wellness industry, specifically nutraceuticals including VMS, probiotics, functional foods, medical nutrition or advanced bioactives. 

  • Experience in Australian complementary medicine markets from a commercial and technical perspective, with excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. 

  • Demonstrated people leadership, with experience supervising and developing others, including management experience. 

  • Deep knowledge of nutrient and botanical mechanisms of action and their application to human metabolism, including applying this knowledge to new product opportunities. 

  • Strong technical knowledge of nutritional ingredients, technologies and scientific evidence. 

  • Sound scientific judgement, with the ability to critically and pragmatically appraise research publications and emerging ingredients, preferably in the nutrition field. 

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for therapeutic (listable) and non-therapeutic products (e.g. food, beverages) in Australia, including TGA-listed complementary medicines. 

  • Experience supervising and developing new products or formulations from concept to launch, preferably in the FMCG space. 

  • Experience translating nutrition science into tangible product development opportunities, differentiated innovation concepts and tangible business product development opportunities. 

  • Postgraduate qualification (PhD or Masters) in pharmaceutical, medical, nutritional or health science and knowledge of regulatory frameworks across Asian markets is desirable.
