Production Tech I

As a Production Tech I, you will serve as customer build activities within Switch data centers. Working alongside Production Technicians, you will coordinate construction activities, and help ensure customer environments are built safely, accurately, and on schedule.

This role combines hands-on construction expertise with supporting customer deployments, quality assurance, facility readiness, and continuous improvement across production operations.

  Coordinate daily production activities and communicate priorities, schedules, and assignments to the team.

  Support customer deployments, including:

  • →

    Perimeter cage installation

  • →

    Ladder rack installation

  • →

    T-SCIF build completion

  • →

    Cabinet installation

  • →

    Heat containment systems

  • →

    Power spine installation

  • →

    Office and MMC/IDF room buildouts

• →

  Coordinate customer support requests and communicate project updates with management and customers.

  Perform quality inspections and verify completed work meets Switch standards.

• →

  Maintain accurate floor plans, labels, and customer space documentation.

• →

  Conduct routine facility inspections and identify opportunities for corrective action.

• →

  Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, CAD drawings, and construction documentation.

• →

  Measure, fabricate, and install customer cage systems and supporting infrastructure.

  Support plumbing activities related to customer deployments, including:

  • →

    Hose installation

  • →

    Camlock fittings

  • →

    MPT/FPT assemblies

  • →

    Leak testing

• →

  Operate forklifts, boom lifts, ladders, and other construction equipment safely.

  Utilize Salesforce, LDC, email, and other systems to track work and communicate project status.

  Participate in meetings, planning sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• →

  Complete additional duties as assigned.

• You communicate clearly with customers, contractors, technicians, and leadership.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum one year of experience as a Production Technician or two years of related experience in production, facilities, construction, mechanical maintenance, or a similar field.

• Strong mechanical aptitude gained through skilled trades, construction, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Experience using powered and non-powered hand tools.

• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate measurements and layout work.

• Working knowledge of plumbing fundamentals, including hose installation, Camlock fittings, MPT/FPT assemblies, and leak testing.

• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently while leading day-to-day field activities.

• Valid state-issued driver's license.

• Reliable transportation.

• Industry certifications related to construction, fabrication, facilities, or mechanical systems.

• Experience working in mission-critical facilities or data center environments.

• Experience using Salesforce, LDC, or similar operational systems.

• Ability to work extended hours during peak deployment periods.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, operating power tools, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to safely move customer cabinets using approved equipment and established procedures.

• Required use of Personal Protective Equipment in designated work areas.

• This position may require additional background checks and drug screenings in support of customer-specific deployments.
