Position Summary

The Operations Finance Manager is the finance manager embedded at Tactile Medical's manufacturing site, accountable for the financial integrity, cost performance, and operational insight of plant operations in a regulated medical device environment. Partnering closely with site, supply chain, operations, and R&D leaders, this role translates manufacturing activity into financial outcomes—owning product costing, inventory and working capital discipline, plant budgeting and forecasting, and the data and reporting foundation that informs executive decisions. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including deep cost accounting and plant finance expertise, ideally within medical device, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead plant financial close, reporting, and internal controls, ensuring accuracy of P&L, COGS, and inventory in compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
  • Own standard product costing, actual vs. standard tracking, and cost variance analysis (volume, efficiency, mix, PPV, labor, overhead, scrap), including financial root cause analysis.
  • Partner with site leadership on inventory management, including FIFO discipline, excess and obsolete (E&O) oversight, inventory reserve and write-down decisions, and inventory turns / working capital targets.
  • Co-lead short-term shipment reforecasting, allocation decisions when demand exceeds supply, and cross-functional planning governance through the S&OP / IBP process.
  • Develop and manage operations, manufacturing, and logistics budgets and forecasts, including logistics cost forecasting and capital vs. expense classification for CapEx decisions.
  • Own the source-of-truth for inventory, shipment, and production data, driving data reconciliation between ERP and financial systems and accountability for data quality.
  • Generate operational performance analysis and financial insight, including cost-to-serve and unit economics, to inform site and executive decision-making.
  • Lead dashboard and report development priorities, executive reporting (combined ops + finance), and report rationalization to deliver decision-grade information.
  • Support R&D and project accounting, including development spend tracking, capitalization decisions, and financial oversight of cross-functional and capital projects.
  • Ensure financial processes align with ISO 13485 / FDA QMSR requirements, supporting audit and inspection readiness across financial and regulatory reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including manufacturing or plant finance
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting (standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX-aligned environments
  • Experience with ERP systems and BI / reporting tools
  • Ability to work on-site at the manufacturing facility

Preferred

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA
  • Experience in medical device, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 / FDA QMSR quality system frameworks
  • Demonstrated success leading S&OP / IBP financial integration
  • Track record leading data quality, source-of-truth, and report rationalization initiatives
  • Experience with R&D accounting and project accounting in a product development setting
