RESPONSIBILITIES• Maintain water quality and chemical balance in all resort hot tubs/spas to meet health department and PHTA standards (e.g., proper sanitizer levels, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness).• Perform daily and weekly inspections, testing, adjustments, and cleaning to prevent issues and ensure crystal-clear, safe water.• Conduct full drain, deep clean, and refill cycles on schedule or as needed based on bather load/usage.• Troubleshoot and report equipment issues (pumps, heaters, jets, filters, ozonators /UV systems).• Ensure compliance with local health codes, safety protocols, and resort standards.• Maintain accurate logs/records of all tests, adjustments, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.• Assist with guest inquiries related to hot tub use and safety when appropriate.• Keep surrounding areas clean, organized, and safe (e.g., decks, access points, chemical storage). Daily Schedule & Tasks (typically performed early morning before guest use, approx. 1–2 hours per round, multiple rounds if needed)• Arrive on-site and inspect all hot tubs/spas for overnight issues (leaks, equipment function, cover security).• Test and record water chemistry: sanitizer (chlorine/bromine), pH, total alkalinity, and temperature (adjust as needed to maintain ideal ranges, e.g., 100–104°F).• Visually inspect water clarity, skim/remove debris from surface and skimmer baskets.• Check and clean filters/pre-filters if dirty; ensure proper circulation and flow.• Verify equipment operation (pumps, heaters, jets, lights); report any malfunctions immediately.• Wipe down accessible surfaces, check cover condition/security, and ensure safety signage is in place.• Add chemicals as required (following safety protocols—no bathers present during/after addition until fully circulated).• Walk the area for hazards (slips, spills, damage) and address minor cleaning needs. Weekly Schedule & Tasks (in addition to daily duties; often consolidated into 1–2 dedicated days)• Perform deeper water testing: calcium hardness, cyanuric acid (stabilizer, if applicable), and total dissolved solids (TDS).• Rinse or backwash cartridge filters (or clean as manufacturer recommends).• Shock/oxidize the water (super-chlorinate or non-chlorine oxidizer) to eliminate organics and combined chloramines.• Brush tub walls, steps, and benches to prevent biofilm/algae buildup.• Inspect and clean the underside of covers; wipe cabinet/exterior surfaces.• Review usage logs to monitor bather load and determine if early drain/fill is needed.• Conduct full system checks: suction fittings, drain covers (anti-entrapment compliant), valves, and automation controls. Drain & Fill Procedures• Perform a complete drain, deep clean, and refill every 3–4 months (or more frequently for high-use tubs, e.g., monthly in peak season).• Follow formula for frequency if needed: (Hot tub gallons ÷ 3) ÷ average daily bathers = approximate days between drains.• Process: Drain tub completely; clean interior surfaces with approved non-abrasive cleaner; rinse thoroughly; inspect/replace filters if necessary; refill with fresh water; balance chemistry from scratch (test/adjust pH, alkalinity, sanitizer); heat to operating temperature; verify full operation before reopening to guests. Why Join Tamarack Resort?Be part of a premier mountain resort team, enjoy stunning Idaho surroundings, employee perks (skiing, lodging discounts, etc.), and the satisfaction of keeping our guests safe and relaxed in world-class hot tubs. QUALIFICATIONS• Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) certification from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), or willingness and ability to obtain CPO certification within 60 days of hire (training support provided).• Previous experience in pool/spa/hot tub maintenance, preferably in a commercial/resort environment.• Knowledge of water chemistry, disinfection, filtration systems, and safety regulations.• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs., work outdoors in varying weather, and perform tasks requiring bending/kneeling.• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
