You will own our finance function. From day one, you'll design the systems and controls we'll scale on, oversee and execute all aspects of accounting, and act as a strategic finance partner across modeling, fundraising, and leadership decisions.
- Own the accounting engine end-to-end. You will run the full accounting cycle from journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. You will produce accurate financial statements, board financials, and financial reporting on a consistent cadence.
- Design our internal control environment from the ground up. From segregation of duties, approval workflows, and documentation standards, you will keep us GAAP-compliant and audit-ready as we grow.
- Manage tax, treasury, and equity. You will own our tax and compliance calendar, cash flow forecasting and bank account management, and the financial side of equity issuances including 409A processes.
- Be the strategic finance partner to leadership. You will support modeling, budgeting, scenario analysis, and variance analysis for company decisions; lead all things finance for fundraises; and support with diligence, audits, and more.
- Build a finance stack that scales, with AI as a force multiplier. You will configure our accounting and finance technology stack, own our finance processes, and continuously evolve how AI is integrated across the function.
You are a controller, senior accountant, or finance leader who has run a function largely solo, with the rigor of a public-accounting background and the energy of a startup builder.
- You are based in or willing to relocate to New York. This role is not remote-eligible.
- 6–10 years of finance and accounting experience. A strong mix of public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier) and in-house operating at a startup or high growth company is ideal. Interest in crypto, digital asset, or web3 accounting is also a plus (even if you don't yet have experience).
- CPA strongly preferred. We will consider candidates without an active license whose track record demonstrates equivalent rigor.
- You've run a finance or accounting function largely solo. You're comfortable being the team and building the function, not adding to a larger one or managing a growing team.
- A genuine AI power user. You already use AI tools daily to increase output, accuracy, and speed across modeling, automation, research, and documentation.
- Builder mentality. You are energized by establishing systems and processes from scratch, not executing someone else's defined playbook.
- Proactive and self-accountable. You surface risks without being asked, drive best practices rather than waiting to be guided, and move comfortably between invoice-level execution and management-grade reporting.
- Career-defining scope. You'll set the standard for how finance operates inside a company transforming institutional finance, while having direct exposure to all aspects of an early stage company's fast growth, from revenue models as we prepare for product launch to strategic fundraising and more.
- Immediate impact. From your first week, you're shaping the chart of accounts, the controls framework, the tax calendar, and the financial systems we'll scale on for years.
- Work alongside an exceptional team. You'll be directly managed and mentored by Eric Yuen (former Managing Director at Blackstone and JPMorgan) alongside an all-star team from Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, UBS, Deutsche Bank, and more.
- AI as a core part of the job, not a side experiment. Many Controllers are still trying to convince leadership that AI belongs in finance. Here, that's a starting assumption. You'll have permission, budget, and a leadership team actively experimenting with AI alongside you.
- Location: New York (hybrid, 3 days per week)
- Compensation: Base salary + equity. Final package based on prior experience and qualifications.
- Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision healthcare, 401(k), generous PTO, and more.
