Construction Safety Specialist - PANYNJ

Techno is seeking Construction Safety Specialists to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) on major capital construction projects. These are on-site, field-based positions responsible for monitoring contractor compliance with applicable safety regulations, identifying hazards, and supporting a safe construction environment. Locations are for Jersey City, NJ and New York, NY.

• →Monitor construction activities for compliance with OSHA, NYC DOB, FDNY, and other applicable regulations and safety standards.
• →Review contractor Health & Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, drawings, and project documentation.
• →Conduct site audits and inspections to identify safety deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• →Monitor work conditions, equipment, and construction operations for compliance with approved safety programs.
• →Prepare daily safety reports documenting observations, findings, photos, deficiencies, and corrective measures.
• →Conduct accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
• →Collaborate with PANYNJ Resident Engineers, safety representatives, contractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.

• 5+ years of construction safety experience, including accident investigation and prevention.
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Valid NYC DOB Site Safety Supervisor (SST) Card.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Experience with building construction and/or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1926, NYC DOB, FDNY, DOT, DEP, and other applicable safety regulations.
• Knowledge of construction and fire safety standards, including NFPA and NYC/NJ Fire Codes.
• Experience conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CHST or other recognized construction safety certification preferred.
• Experience with OCIP/CCIP projects.
• Previous experience on Port Authority projects is a plus.
