Quick Summary

At Terrestris, we leverage technology to create better mission outcomes through better human performance. We form strong client and team relationships through transparency and strive to create an environment where our team can let their excellence shine through. Rooted in the USMC values of honor, courage, and commitment, Terrestris seeks to deliver extraordinary value to the American people by helping the Government become more efficient and effective.
The Primary Instructor serves as the lead instructor for ASEP-T, a five-day executive education course that prepares transitioning General Officers and their spouses to move from senior military leadership into the civilian workforce in accordance with the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act, Transition Assistance Program (TAP), and Soldier for Life requirements. Using executive adult learning models and challenging experiential exercises rather than lecture, the Primary Instructor teaches, presents, or facilitates the majority of the curriculum, including pre-separation counseling, individual transition planning, resumes, networking, personal branding, interviewing, salary negotiation, and employment assistance.
Working alongside the Alternate Instructor and in coordination with the ASEP-T Course Director, the Primary Instructor also provides individual counseling to each participant, delivers customized transition sessions for retiring four-star generals, and drives continuous curriculum improvement through pre-course surveys, course evaluations, after action reviews, and longitudinal follow-up with course graduates.
You will:
- Serve as lead instructor for five (5) five-day ASEP-T courses per year (approximately eight hours per day) for up to 18 General Officers in person or 22 online, plus their spouses.
- Develop and maintain a current, modular curriculum adaptable to face-to-face and online delivery (e.g., Zoom, Teams) that meets VOW Act, TAP, Soldier for Life, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Present a five-to-ten-year vision of the executive landscape that helps General Officers determine where they best fit as executive leaders.
- Guide participants in building individual transition plans, including pre-separation timelines, realistic career goals, interest/aptitude assessments, and translation of military experience into civilian terms.
- Instruct on resumes/CVs and cover letters, networking plans, LinkedIn and social media, job search methods, personal branding, interviewing, civilian salary scales and negotiation, public and non-profit opportunities, and legal and ethical constraints unique to retiring General Officers.
- Facilitate experiential exercises, including internet- and AI-enabled exercises, resume building, mock interviews, and mock offer negotiations.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with each participant (and spouse, as applicable), including in-depth resume critiques, transition plan feedback, strengths assessments, and networking plan reviews.
- Help design and deliver an integrated spouse curriculum with spouse-specific break-out sessions.
- Coordinate a Day 2 no-host networking event featuring at least three (3) recently retired General Officers.
- Deliver the annual one-day Introductory Transition Module (ITM) for up to 200 students at the Senior Leader Development Seminar (SLDS).
- Deliver up to eight (8) customized four-hour Four-Star Executive Sessions per year, in person or virtually, covering civilian role translation, corporate boards, LLC formation, and compensation negotiation.
- Provide up to two (2) hours of follow-on coaching per participant for up to 90 days after retirement.
- Develop pre-course surveys, high-performance assessments, course evaluations, and course outlines; participate in after action reviews and contribute to post-course, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Coordinate guest speakers on topics such as VA benefits, ethics, and financial and estate planning (retirement pay, TSP, SBP, Post-9/11 GI Bill, VA disability, and Social Security).
