Position: CRED NYC Outreach and Retention Specialist, SkillSpring
Location: Multiple Sites in Manhattan & the Bronx
Salary Range: $65,000 to $ 70,000 per annum
Reports to: SkillSpring’s CRED NYC Program Director

About SkillSpring:

SkillSpring, a workforce development powered by The New Jewish Home, has supported New York City youth and young adults from under-resourced schools and communities in pursuing careers in health care since 2006. By training the next generation of high-quality, culturally competent healthcare professionals, SkillSpring generates excitement and enthusiasm for careers serving older adults.

Position Overview:

SkillSpring, operated by The New Jewish Home, seeks a full-time Outreach and Retention Specialist to lead participant recruitment, engagement, and retention for our Community Resources for Employment and Development Program (“CRED NYC”) Program. Reporting to the CRED NYC Director, the Outreach and Retention Specialist will play a vital role in cultivating partnerships, screening prospective applicants, tracking attendance and participation, and providing individualized support across all phases of the program—from enrollment through job placement and retention.

This position requires trauma-informed engagement strategies and a commitment to culturally responsive service delivery. The successful candidate will have experience working with individuals impacted by systemic inequities, including community violence, housing instability, and long-term unemployment. Flexibility is required, including availability for evening and Saturday programming across multiple SkillSpring sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead targeted outreach and recruitment efforts across NYC, with a focus on NYCHA developments, DOE alternative schools, community-based organizations, and HRA referrals.
• Screen applicants for program fit, eligibility, and career alignment; conduct intake interviews and assist with document collection and enrollment paperwork.
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with community-based referral partners including East Side House Settlement, Fair Futures, and HRA TAG providers.
• Support case managers in participant retention by providing regular follow-up, tracking progress, and identifying re-engagement strategies when challenges arise.
• Maintain regular communication with participants throughout training, clinical rotations, and internships; monitor attendance and engagement; log interactions in internal tracking systems.
• Facilitate small-group workshops on career readiness, self-efficacy, and job search strategies; co-lead monthly check-ins for alumni and current participants.
• Assist job developers and case managers in verifying employment placements and collecting documentation for DYCD and CRED NYC compliance.
• Ensure daily program sign-in and sign-out, accurate attendance tracking, and timely reporting of milestones and deliverables.
• Contribute to the creation of culturally relevant outreach materials, job development tools, and engagement strategies aligned with CRED NYC expectations.
• Collaborate with program staff to coordinate internship schedules, ensure wraparound supports are in place, and follow up on participant goals outlined in their Individual Service Strategy.
• Uphold CRED NYC regulations; participate in professional development, provider meetings, and community events.
