We are currently seeking an experienced People Advisor to join our People team at West Swanson Terminal, Melbourne. Reporting to the Senior Manager – People, this role partners closely with Operational and Engineering leaders to provide expert Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) advice, manage disciplinary, workplace investigation and grievance processes, and coach leaders on people management practices.
This is a highly visible, hands-on HR role within a unionised operational environment, where you will play a critical role in supporting leaders to effectively manage employee issues, maintain positive workplace relationships and ensure compliance with employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements and company policies.
This is a permanent full-time position based at West Swanson Terminal.
- Provide expert Employee Relations and Industrial Relations advice to leaders and employees across the Terminal.
- Lead and support disciplinary processes, workplace investigations, grievances, and disputes.
- Partner with Operational and Engineering leaders to coach and guide appropriate people management practices.
- Interpret and provide advice on Enterprise Agreements, Awards, employment legislation and company policies.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment activities, including sourcing, interviewing, onboarding and stakeholder engagement.
- Support a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives, effective communication and proactive issue resolution.
Requirements
~1 min read- Demonstrated HR Advisory experience within a unionised, operational, manufacturing, logistics, transport, maritime or blue-collar environment.
- Strong Employee Relations and Industrial Relations experience, including investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances and dispute resolution.
- Experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements, Awards and employment legislation.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong written communication, investigation, documentation and report-writing skills.
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business or a related discipline.
