Museum of Science, Boston
Innovation and creativity come from the unique perspectives of a diverse staff. We value your perspective.
As science and technology increasingly shape our lives, the Museum of Science strives to equip and inspire everyone to use science for the global good while keeping up with the pace of change. Among the world’s largest science centers and New England’s most attended cultural institution, we engage nearly five million people a year – at Science Park and in museums around the world, in classrooms, and online.
The Museum’s singular location connecting Boston and Cambridge puts us at the junction of some of the world’s most influential academic institutions and industries, local and state government, schools, and the public. Trusted by each sector, we are ideally positioned to convene, inspire, and create meaningful experiences for all. Come join us on our mission to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone and living our vision for a world where science belongs to each of us for the good of all of us.
The Director, Media and Paid Partnerships is responsible for shaping and overseeing the Museum’s paid media strategy and partnerships to strengthen visibility and engagement while growing attendance and revenue. This role brings a growth marketer’s mindset to the Museum’s marketing efforts: relentless testing, rapid iteration and a bias towards what moves the numbers. Ensures that the Museum’s marketing efforts are data-driven, optimized, and reaching the right audiences through the most effective channels.
This position combines strategic decision-making with hands-on campaign execution: negotiating media value, managing budgets, and collaborating with other divisions to deliver measurable, scalable results in ticket sales, membership and program revenue.
- Develop and run an integrated paid media strategy across digital channels (including search, paid social, CTV, audio) with select local media partnerships and OOH.
- Manage paid social campaigns end to end across platforms, from targeting and creative testing to budget pacing and optimization,
- Partner with other divisions to align media investments with institutional goals and campaign data.
- Negotiate and manage media partnerships to ensure cost-effective placements tied to measurable business outcomes.
- Run continuous testing programs (creative, audience, channel mix) with clearly defined measurement and attribution to prove what’s driving conversion and revenue.
- Integrate paid, owned, and earned channels for cohesive storytelling and conversion impact.
- Champion innovation and experimentation in media strategy, and use performance data to reallocate budget quickly toward what works.
- A growth marketer mindset: comfortable running fast test-and-learn cycles and shifting strategy based on data rather than instinct or precedent.
- A track record of driving measurable revenue or attendance/conversion growth through paid media.
- Deep expertise in paid social and digital media planning, buying, and optimization.
- Proven ability to use analytics, testing, and attribution models to drive budget and channel decisions.
- Strong negotiation and partnership management skills.
- Experience integrating media strategy with broader revenue and business objectives.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across divisions and external stakeholders.
Mission-Focused: We inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone.
Audience-Driven: Everything we do begins with the people we serve.
Innovative: We are curious, take smart risks, share responsibility, and own outcomes.
Generous: We offer time and energy towards common goals.
