Job Title: High School Science Teacher (Chemistry Focus)
Reports To: School Leadership / Principal
Salary: Starting at $48,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications)


Position Overview

The High School Science Teacher (Chemistry Focus) is responsible for developing students’ understanding of scientific concepts through rigorous, content-rich instruction aligned with The Vanguard School’s mission. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about chemistry, hands-on learning, and helping students build both confidence and competence in applying scientific principles.

The teacher will deliver engaging, lab-based instruction and foster intellectual curiosity while supporting students in mastering foundational and advanced chemistry concepts, including potential Advanced Placement (AP) coursework.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective, standards-aligned chemistry instruction
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes academic rigor, curiosity, and student engagement
  • Design and implement hands-on, lab-based learning experiences
  • Ensure safe and effective use of laboratory equipment and materials
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain an organized, structured, and positive classroom environment
  • Promote student achievement and accountability
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities, including communication and collaboration with staff and families

  • Scientific research methods, lab techniques, and use of instructional technology
  • History and philosophy of science


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (science field preferred), with at least 36 semester hours in science coursework
  • Strong understanding of chemistry concepts and related mathematics
  • Willingness to attend AP Chemistry training
  • Prior teaching experience preferred but not required
  • A Colorado teaching license is not required for this position
