Academic Coach/Tutor

The Academic Coach/Tutor position at Thorup Tutoring is split up into two categories: Elementary School Tutor & Middle School/High School Tutor. We are currently looking for applicants in the Elementary School category. We are seeking people who are highly motivated, smart, and organized. Our services take place in-person and occasionally via an online platform.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and educate students in a one on one setting
• Establish academic goals and milestones with students
• Document and communicate progress reports
• Provide constructive feedback for students
• Communicate progress and/or concerns with parents and management

​Qualifications:

• Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields is preferred
• Ability to build rapport with students and parents
• Sufficient knowledge of core educational subjects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to tutor children up through 5th grade math

Overview and Expectations:

• A minimum of 1 full school year is preferred but not required (mid-August - end of May)
• Training: 12-15 hours 
• Background check is required

​Compensation:

• Hourly wage ($20-$22/hour starting wage)
• Performance review with opportunity for raise at 3 months / 6 months / 1 year
