Mail X-Ray Screening Technician

• Receive and securely handle mail and packages from USPS and approved third-party courier hubs.
• Properly use required PPE and follow all established safety procedures.
• Conduct visual inspections of mail and packages for suspicious characteristics.
• Maintain strict customer segregation and prevent commingling of mail and packages.
• Maintain chain-of-custody requirements, including barcode scanning when required.
• Apply required receiving labels and maintain accurate package identification.
• Operate approved X-ray screening equipment to identify items requiring further investigation.
• Operate approved passive detection equipment to assist in identifying potential CBRN substances.
• Immediately safeguard suspicious items and follow established emergency response and notification procedures.
• Escalate critical security concerns to the Site Operations Manager without delay.
• Follow all screening procedures, engineering controls, security protocols, and customer-specific requirements.
• Accurately record mail/package volumes, arrival, processing, and departure times.
• Stage screened mail and packages securely and assist with vehicle loading and customer deliveries.
• Maintain screening equipment, supplies, inventory, work areas, and required operational documentation.
• Maintain a professional, security-conscious demeanor; work effectively under pressure, protect confidential information, and perform duties accurately as part of the SafeMail team.
• Ensure timely delivery to customer office locations.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years of mail/package screening, warehouse, logistics, or related operational experience preferred.
• Prior experience in mail screening, TSA/security screening, warehouse operations, team leadership, or customer service preferred.
• X-ray screening certification and/or experience operating X-ray screening equipment preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) hazards and screening principles preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area, including major highways, business districts, and local delivery routes, strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate a company vehicle/van for mail and package pickup and delivery.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow established security and operational procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated customer-service orientation and ability to work effectively with clients, coworkers, and management.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of mail/package handling, including lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods and comply with established safety procedures.
• Demonstrated "can-do" attitude, reliability, initiative, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining timely and accurate service.
• Proficiency with Windows-based PCs, keyboarding, scanning, and basic operational systems preferred.
• Ability to meet established attendance, punctuality, performance, and service-level requirements.
