- Conduct daily archaeological construction monitoring and prepare daily logs
- Provide Cultural Resource Awareness Training
- Recognize discoveries and initiate notification;
- Divert construction equipment and activities away from the immediate vicinity of the find;
- Complete initial discovery documentation (GPS, photographs, site forms, site sketch, artifact sketch);
- Day-to-day management/coordination of on-site Tribal monitors
- Assist with subsurface excavations, such as shovel test probes, excavation units, as needed
- Assist with on-site laboratory analysis as needed
- Other duties as requested
- Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
- 2+ years’ experience conducting archaeological monitoring and interacting with Tribal monitors
- Good familiarity with Santa Barbara County cultural assemblage
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and be a proactive part of a project team
- Excellent attention to detail and detailed note taking skills
- A valid driver's license
- Ability to operate GPS units and navigate using USGS maps/aerial photography, and compass preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must understand and comply with company safety standards
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 -pounds on occasion
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training is nice, but can be provided
- Solid experience with identification of human remains
