About the Role
~1 min readU.S. Pipe is seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer to support a large modernization project at our locations. The Project Mechanical Engineer will review project drawings, specifications and submittals for compliance with U.S. Pipe standards, codes and standards and contract requirements prior to the start of construction. During construction the Project Mechanical Engineer will verify that the installation conforms to the project requirements and ultimately support the successful commissioning of the new facility.
Upon completion of this project, this position will either transition into the plant or corporate engineering team.
The position will require travel (approximately 10% travel requirement)
Responsibilities

- →As a member of the U.S. Pipe project team, coordinate with team members and plant personnel to ensure the design and construction support a fully functional facility.
- →Review/comment/approve Mechanical drawings, submittals, specifications and other documents prepared by the General Contractor.
- →Review General Contractor Requests for Information (RFI’s) and develop appropriate responses.
- →Monitor multi-disciplinary construction and quality check General Contractor’s Mechanical construction.
- →Coordinate with OEM vendors during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- →Support commissioning activities to ensure proper and timely startup of the new facility.
- →Prepare Mechanical punch list items and verify proper correction prior to final acceptance.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Will consider combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of preferred degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or related role.
- Experience with installation of mechanical equipment including material handling equipment, hydraulic, pumping, cooling towers, compressed air and HVAC systems.
- Experience with mechanical alignments and lubrication.
- Experience with installation and testing of piping systems.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience working on construction sites, preferably heavy industrial construction facilities.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental regulations.
- Ability to think logically, strong decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present technical data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD and Navisworks strongly preferred.
