The Floor Crew and Utility Lead provides hands-on leadership for daily custodial and utility services while directing specialized floor-care work. This role leads by example, helps maintain safe and clean facilities, coordinates assignments and work requests, and ensures the crew uses equipment and chemicals correctly. The Lead performs regular custodial duties as needed and supports the supervisor in delivering quality service.

- Lead, train, and support floor crew and utility staff; assign daily tasks and help ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to scope.
- Perform and oversee floor-care services, including machine scrubbing, stripping, waxing, burnishing, carpet spotting and extraction, and other restorative floor work.
- Perform utility services such as pressure washing, trash and recycling support, detail cleaning, and response to spills or urgent cleaning needs.
- Inspect completed work and high-traffic areas; correct deficiencies and communicate service needs, maintenance issues, and safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Respond to work requests and support special projects, events, move-ins, move-outs, and other operational needs.
- Provide hands-on custodial coverage, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning and sanitizing, breakroom cleaning, and replenishing supplies.
- Maintain a variety of plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, faucets, and related equipment.
- Maintain floor machines, vacuums, pressure washers, carts, tools, and supplies in clean, safe working order; report equipment damage or repair needs promptly.
- Follow all procedures for chemical use, dilution, labeling, storage, waste handling, recycling, and disposal.
- Read schedules, task lists, and floor plans or diagrams; communicate changes and priorities clearly to the crew.
- Maintain a professional, customer-service-oriented presence when interacting with clients, occupants, and other service partners.
- Promote consistent attendance, safe work practices, teamwork, and accountability; complete other duties assigned by management.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least two years of commercial, institutional, or similar custodial experience, including practical floor-care experience.
- Experience operating floor machines, such as auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, extractors, and pressure-washing equipment.
- Prior lead, trainer, or crew-coordination experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety data sheets, personal protective equipment, and safe material-handling practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, organize daily priorities, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attendance, punctuality, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License is a must.
Working Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds; team lifting or approved equipment is required for heavier items.
- Ability to operate custodial and floor-care equipment and work around cleaning chemicals while using required personal protective equipment.
- Work may occur indoors and outdoors and may include exposure to wet floors, noise, dust, and changing temperatures.
- Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to fifty pounds; operate assigned equipment and vehicles.
