The Education Section is seeking a colleague from the Senegal Country Office for a short-term stretch assignment to provide programme and operational support during a particularly intensive period of programme implementation and year-end financial management. The assignment will provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in programme support within the Education Section, with particular exposure to HACT processes, financial monitoring and collaboration with government partners.

  1. Support the timely processing of Q3 and Q4 DCTs, with particular attention to liquidations and disbursements, including follow-up of supporting documentation and coordination with colleagues and implementing partners.
    • Support the preparation of a HACT capacity-strengthening session for account managers from central-level directorates of the Ministry of National Education, to be organized as part of the Education Annual Review.
    • Support the preparation, organization and follow-up of relevant programme and financial documentation.
    • Support programme-related transactions and follow-up in UNICEF systems, in line with applicable procedures.
    • Provide other targeted programme and administrative support to the Education Section, as required during the assignment.

Requirements

Relevant experience in programme and/or administrative support. Good knowledge of HACT and DCT processes and familiarity with UNICEF programme and financial procedures and relevant systems are particularly desirable. Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to follow up on multiple processes and deliver within tight deadlines.

Fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is an asset.

To be eligible to apply you should have:

  • An existing appointment within UNICEF that runs through the duration of the assignment.
  • An agreement from your supervisor to go on a stretch assignment for the full duration. 

On receipt of your supervisor’s agreement (an email approval), submit your application via TMS.

The expression of interest should include:

- Current function;

- Relevant experience;

- Availability for the proposed 15–30 calendar-day period; and

- Approval from the applicant’s supervisor to apply for the stretch assignment.

The selected applicant would be expected to take up the assignment at the latest by 9 October 2026, for at least 15 days. Once the selection process has been completed, the exact time-sharing and working arrangements will be confirmed with the selected colleague and their supervisor.

This is an internal stretch assignment within the Senegal Country Office. The selected staff member will remain in their current position and their salary will continue to be covered under the existing funding arrangement.

  • For staff based in Dakar, the stretch assignment will be undertaken in person at the Dakar office, with teleworking arrangements remaining applicable in accordance with the regular office working arrangements. For staff based outside Dakar, the stretch assignment may be undertaken fully remotely. Where mutually convenient, alternative arrangements, including a period of presence in Dakar, may be discussed with the selected staff member and their supervisor, taking into account the modalities applicable to stretch assignments.
  • A flexible time-sharing arrangement may be agreed with the selected staff member and their supervisor, allowing the staff member to continue supporting some of their regular functions during the assignment. This assignment is not linked to a vacant position, and the selected colleague will not be eligible for a Special Post Allowance (SPA). If a colleague from a field office is selected for this Stretch Assignment, the office will only cover the transportation costs.
