Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Manager (Diets and Practices) and with support from WFP maternal nutrition focal point the consultant will be responsible for the following:

• Policy Review and Landscape Analysis
• Assessment of Programme Management and Service Delivery related to supplements and BEP

• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local language is an asset.

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in: Nutrition Epidemiology, Public Health Nutrition, Biostatistics, Health Promotion, International / Global Health, Health Policy, Food Policy, Public Policy or another relevant technical field. 

• Minimum 10 years of experience working in maternal and child nutrition policy and programming.

1. Excellent knowledge on nutrition, food security and health system in Nigeria is mandatory.
2. Knowledge and experience in nutrition, food security or health related surveys and assessments in Nigeria.
3. Experience of developing guidelines and plans with governments
4. Knowledge and experience in analysing data and interpreting for decision making
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to proactively establish and maintain working relations, and to promote synergies with other stakeholders.
6. Ability to take initiatives and work independently and systematically.
7. Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) and any other local Nigerian language
8. Excellent reporting and presentation skills, with a proven ability to work in collaboration with other experts.
9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
10. Availability in Nigeria during the assignment period, with the ability to visit office and field locations as needed.
11. Experience working in, or knowledge of, the Nigerian’s maternal health, food and nutrition context.
12. Demonstrable problem solving, policy analysis, quantitative and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking.
13. In-depth understanding of various types of policy documents, data and their key sources, and limitations
14. Ability to articulate and present ideas both in written presentation and orally to team as well as external audience.
15. Knowledge of the UN rules, procedures and regulations and/or working experience for the UN or other international development organization would be an asset.

• A detailed technical proposal:
1.  A brief explanation of methodology or approach for different deliverables with timeline.
2. One writing sample (max. 20 pages) demonstrating relevant experience in the development of technical and analytical documents.
3. The sample should meet the following criteria: be (co)-authored by the applicant, be relevant to the assignment and align with the deliverables.
