Travel Superintendent – Interior Buildout

Ready to run interiors jobs from coast to coast? United Contractor Services is adding a Travel Superintendent to our field leadership team. You'll own our self-perform scope on commercial projects across the country, and we'll cover your lodging and per diem while you're on the road.

Your Job on Site

You'll take each project from the first control line to final closeout, serving as the main point of field leadership for our crews and our main link to the general contractor. On a typical project, you'll:

  • Direct the full sequence of interior work, starting with framing layout and continuing through board, finishes, ceilings, punch list, and turnover
  • Set daily crew sizes, develop short-interval look-ahead schedules that fit the GC's master schedule, and keep production steady
  • Meet with the GC superintendent and other trades each day to work out sequencing, area handoffs, and field conflicts
  • Work with our project managers and suppliers to time material deliveries, stocking, and lift and equipment needs
  • Guide foremen and crews with clear standards for quality, productivity, and accountability
  • Verify installed work against drawings, specifications, and UL-listed rated assemblies, and have areas ready for framing, cover, and above-ceiling inspections
  • Catch scope gaps, conflicts, and added work early, and back them with documentation so change orders get approved and paid
  • Maintain complete project records: daily reports, manpower logs, photo documentation, and change order backup
  • Lead by example on safety, holding every crew to OSHA standards and industry best practices

Who Fits This Role

The right person has run commercial work from the field and knows interiors well. You'll need:

  • At least 3 years of superintendent experience on commercial construction, ideally with drywall, metal stud framing, or ceiling scopes
  • Field leadership experience on the subcontractor side (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel full time to job sites throughout the U.S.
  • Solid layout skills on complex interiors, including laser layout and setting control lines
  • Confidence reading architectural plans, RCPs, wall type schedules, and specs
  • Practical knowledge of rated assemblies, head-of-wall and deflection details, and drywall finish levels
  • A track record of managing manpower and look-aheads on fast-moving schedules
  • A strong eye for detail and high standards for finished work
  • Clear communication with GCs, field crews, and internal teams
  • OSHA 30 certification (required)
  • Comfort using cloud-based field reporting tools. We provide the software and the training.

What We Offer

  • Bonus program tied to performance, with real upside for strong results
  • Room to grow into larger leadership roles as the company expands
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance paid by the company
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • One additional paid week each year for volunteer work
  • Lodging covered and daily meal per diem on travel assignments
  • Mileage reimbursement at a competitive rate
