About the Role

The Rural Clinical School (RCS) is seeking a Senior Lecturer to deliver high-quality medical education to students at the Burnie campus and across Tasmania’s North West region. Reporting to the Director of the Rural Clinical School, the successful appointee will teach medical students through a range of methods, including clinical skills training and simulation-based education, while collaborating with a team of clinical academic staff. The role supports the development of a skilled rural medical workforce and contributes to the University of Tasmania’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community through socially accountable medical education.

Responsibilities

  • Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

­What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD or equivalent (such as a clinical Fellowship) in a relevant field.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level or other post-secondary educational setting.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, and wider community.
  • Professional experience relevant to the position.

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 comprising base salary within the range of $138,536 to $157,330  (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation and clinical loading.
