Surerus Murphy Joint Venture is searching for a Junior Project Scheduler to join our teams working on projects in Northern AB & BC. The Junior Project Scheduler is responsible for assisting with planning, developing, and maintaining the project schedule, as well proactively highlighting project schedule and productivity issues at the project site. The role includes tracking progress, analysing data, providing reports to key stakeholders and clients and supporting the lead scheduler and project management team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Lead Project Scheduler.
- Assist with progressing and updating of actuals into detailed resource loaded project schedule.
- Incorporate subcontract schedules into the overall project schedule and apply progress updates.
- Understand the project life cycle.
- Exercise judgement in the selection, classification, compilation and analysis of data obtained from a variety of sources.
- Assist with the revision of complex project schedules for validity, logic, and ensure they meet scheduling best practices as well as company standards and procedures.
- Assist with schedule revision and monitoring, with the intent to report on the progress of work and any problems that affect the planned productivity.
- Assist with the production of, and maintenance of resource histograms and cash flow analyses in liaison with the Project Scheduler throughout the project life cycle.
- Assist with the evaluation of actual construction progress, forecast completion dates and provide regular schedule updates with written narratives.
- Ensure the maintenance of related records and reports for the project.
- Assist with identification and assessing of risks to the project schedule.
- Support the project management team to maintain timely and effective change management processes, complying with project procedures and systems.
- Assist with the preparation of ‘what if’ scenarios and schedule recovery plans.
- Assist the project manager and functional leads in monitoring resource allocations.
- May be responsible for field progress measurement.
- Highlight potential threats to accomplishing the schedule and suggest corrective actions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with the project team.
Note: In addition to these duties, personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and / or a relevant combination of education / training and field experience.
Experience
- 1 – 2 years of related work experience within a project environment.
- Experience with Primavera is required.
- Experience with Tilos would be an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to work well as part of a high functioning team in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to work in a deadline driven environment, ability to prioritize and multi-task and manage client expectations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of computer literacy and proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and maintain strong relationships across different teams, to achieve the best results and deliver the most value.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is field based and often works within remote project locations. Travel and/or living in temporary accommodations is required. Able to work 6 days on, 1 day off shift with 12-hour shifts for the duration of project.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Junior Project Scheduler reports to the Project Scheduler.
EXPECTED COMPENSATION RANGE
$30.00 – $40.00 per hour
