As an Overnight Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional medical care and compassionate support to every patient at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. You will perform a wide range of advanced technical duties in alignment with hospital protocols, ensuring that each client is treated with professionalism, empathy, and respect—reflecting our deep appreciation for the bond between pets and their families.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Monitor, record, and interpret patient vital signs and behavior throughout their hospitalization
- →Provide comprehensive technical support to emergency veterinarians
- →Deliver compassionate diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients, including those requiring critical care
- →Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
- →Obtain and prepare diagnostic samples, including blood draws, arterial blood gases, cystocentesis, urinary catheter samples, and free‑catch urine
- →Conduct laboratory procedures such as blood typing, crossmatching, and slide agglutination testing
- →Accurately acquire and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while following strict radiation‑safety protocols
- →Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot medical equipment responsibly and safely
- →Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, providing clear information and reassurance
Requirements
~1 min read- At least 2+ years of experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, or a registered technician with any level of experience in an ER/ICU environment
- A strong drive to learn, grow, and apply technical skills in a fast‑paced, collaborative clinical setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence and competency in performing technical procedures as outlined in hospital protocols
- Dependability, strong follow‑through, and consistency in completing tasks and projects
- Wednesday through Saturday
- 8:00pm - 6:00am or 9:00pm - 7:00am
