Finance & AccountingJunior Accountant

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to support veritree’s Finance function as we scale our operations and build strong, reliable financial processes. Beyond core month-end and AP functions, this position offers a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking accountant to help evaluate, build, and deploy AI-driven workflow automations across our team. This role owns the Accounts Payable workflow, supports month-end close, including sales tax filings, and provides operational and reporting support to the Controller. You’ll help build a finance function that is accurate, efficient, and scalable, while gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting activities in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.

  • Accounts Payable Mastery: Fully learn, understand, and independently execute veritree’s AP Playbook, including using Float, Beanworks, and all AP workflows. Maintain accurate vendor records and manage the AP inbox autonomously.
  • Month-End Close Readiness: Independently prepare and reconcile all assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of schedules for review.
  • Sales Tax Compliance: Learn and independently complete the applicable sales tax returns (e.g., GST/PST), ensuring timely filing and accurate supporting documentation.
  • Financial Support Excellence: Demonstrate reliability and accuracy in supporting the Controller with other ad hoc requests as required: audit support, government grant claim submissions, document requests, and otherad-hoc reporting needs.
  • Process & AI Optimization: Identify at least 1–2 key manual workflows in the Finance function and successfully collaborate with the team to implement AI tools or agents (e.g., Claude) to improve operational efficiency.
