Senior Quality Inspector

We are working as the internal recruitment partner for our client, a global organisation providing specialist supply chain solutions to the aerospace industry.

We are now seeking a Senior Inspector to join our clients Quality team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality professional to take ownership of inspection activities, provide leadership to the inspection function, and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance across the business.

Reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Inspection Department, managing workloads and priorities, supporting and developing team members, and ensuring that products meet customer, regulatory and aerospace industry requirements.

Working within a highly regulated aerospace environment, you will utilise your technical expertise and leadership skills to drive quality improvements, resolve inspection challenges and ensure inspection processes are delivered effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Manage inspection priorities and coordinate activities with internal departments to ensure business requirements are met.

• Supervise the day-to-day running of the Inspection Department.
• Provide training, guidance and coaching to Inspectors and Quality team members on inspection techniques, document review and the use of calibrated measuring equipment.
• Manage, review and action inspection queries, ensuring timely resolution.
• Oversee shelf-life controlled inventory and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Manage product non-conformances, supplier returns and associated corrective actions.
• Support and drive continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
• Perform dimensional, visual and documentation inspections on incoming materials and outgoing products where required.
• Identify products requiring ad-hoc sample inspection based on customer feedback, non-conformance trends and part criticality.
• Review and approve inspection records, reports, checklists and dispositions.
• Create, manage and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102.
• Support root cause investigations relating to customer feedback, returns and quality concerns.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify corrective actions and implement improvements.
• Establish and oversee inspection standards and best practices for incoming goods.
  
  

• Previous experience within a Senior Inspection, Inspection or Quality role, ideally within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring or supervising team members.
• Strong understanding of aerospace quality requirements and inspection processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Knowledge of aerospace regulations and industry standards.
• Knowledge of AS9102 and ISO 2859-1.
• Experience of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
• Ability to understand and review traceability and certification documentation.
• Technical engineering apprenticeship or engineering background would be advantageous.
• Strong organisational, planning and workload management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
