Engineer I (Mechanical Engineer)

The Mechanical Engineer supports new product development for the company’s Thermal global products.  The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products.  This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.  This position will support lab testing on 2^nd shift.  Normal working hours will be approximately 11am to 8pm. 

• →Creates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
• →Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM’s based on options selected by the customer. 
• →Works with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
• →Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise. 
• →Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
• →Understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
• →Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
• →Coordinate testing in the lab.
• →Analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
• →Thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
• →Determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety. 
• Basic mechanical CAD tools experience- Solid Edge, Creo, Solid Works. 
• Experience with Sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
• Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.  
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically. 
• Detail oriented. 
• Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.  

• Must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.

• Regular local travel between Office/Lab/production facilities and minimal travel (<5%) to customer sites.
