Manager, Application Engineering – Power Distribution

The Manager, Application Engineering  – Power Distribution leads the Application Engineering team supporting Medium Voltage Switchgear (MVS), Low Voltage Switchgear/Switchboards (LVS), and Busway solutions. This role is responsible for ensuring customer requirements are translated into technically compliant, manufacturable, competitive, and commercially viable solutions. The manager provides technical leadership across product applications, solution development, proposal support, and cost estimating while ensuring compliance with applicable NEC, ANSI/IEEE, UL, NEMA, and IEC standards.

The position works closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to improve proposal quality, technical accuracy, responsiveness, and execution.

• →Lead, develop, and manage the Application Engineering team supporting MV Switchgear, LV Switchgear/Switchboards, and Busway.
• →Provide technical leadership for product selection, configuration, application, and development of customer-specific power distribution solutions.
• →Ensure customer specifications, one-line diagrams, and project requirements are translated into practical and manufacturable designs.
• →Lead technical proposal development, including equipment configuration, scope definition, technical exceptions, and risk identification.
• →Ensure accurate and competitive cost estimates covering materials, labor, engineering, testing, and execution requirements.
• →Support Sales with technical customer discussions, specification reviews, proposal development, and value-engineering alternatives.
• →Ensure solutions comply with applicable NEC, ANSI/IEEE, UL, NEMA, IEC, and other relevant industry standards.
• →Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to validate product capability, manufacturability, cost, capacity, and technical risks.
• →Establish consistent application engineering processes, technical standards, estimating practices, and proposal review requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline required; master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, Engineering Management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical power distribution, switchgear, switchboards, busway, or related equipment.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, or providing technical leadership to an engineering team.
• Strong knowledge of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear and busway applications.
• Working knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE, UL, NEMA, and IEC standards.
• Experience reviewing customer specifications, one-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
• Experience developing technical proposals, equipment configurations, and cost estimates.
• Strong understanding of how electrical equipment design impacts manufacturing, material cost, labor, lead time, and commercial performance.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Operations.
