Position Overview
The Operations and Project Management Specialist supports daily operations in a modular fabrication facility while coordinating the movement of materials and finished goods from suppliers to final destinations. This role combines project coordination, business process optimization, production oversight, inventory control, transportation coordination, and cross-functional execution to improve efficiency, workflow, and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a central communication hub between production, engineering, project management, logistics, manufacturers, vendors, internal departments, and clients.
• Coordinate end-to-end transportation schedules for inbound raw materials and outbound finished products.
• Select qualified freight carriers, negotiate shipping rates, and manage third-party logistics providers.
• Design efficient shipping routes across road, rail, air, and ocean transportation channels.
• Monitor the progress of modular unit builds, quality standards, and production schedules using internal ERP systems.
• Communicate priorities, goals, and expectations to production staff.
• Identify operational bottlenecks, forecast execution and supply chain risks, and implement immediate mitigation strategies.
• Resolve unexpected shipping delays, customs clearance issues, and carrier cargo discrepancies.
• Manage labeling systems and barcoding infrastructure to maintain item-identification accuracy.
• Coordinate material staging and kitting to optimize material flow.
• Forecast demand patterns with purchasing and sales teams to align supply volumes.
• Develop operational logistics budgets and monitor expenditures to reduce unnecessary spending.
• Support the integration of logistics software, ARIA.
• Assess supply chain risks and develop alternative contingency plans for unexpected trade disruptions.
• Identify process inefficiencies and implement practical, hands-on improvements.
Knowledge and Expertise
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, modular building processes, and shop-floor operations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with fabrication techniques, materials handling, and assembly practices used in modular construction.
• Understanding of production scheduling and workflow management in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, environmental policies, and quality assurance practices.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, warehouse management systems, production-tracking tools, and visual scheduling methods.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Theory of Constraints, and basic Six Sigma concepts.
• Understanding of production KPIs and freight-efficiency metrics to identify trends and bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel data entry, route optimization, inventory control, and cross-functional project management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a closely related analytical field.
• Two to five years of experience handling logistics operations, freight coordination, or procurement systems.
• Five or more years of experience in modular construction, traditional construction, or manufacturing, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
