Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serves as compliance advisor and strategic partner providing risk-based guidance and regulatory advisory support and subject matter expertise across products, services, and business activities.
- Provides regulatory interpretations and advisory regarding federal and state banking laws and regulations, helping business partners evaluate risks, make informed decisions, and implement compliant solutions.
- Reviews customer-facing marketing materials and communications to ensure accuracy, clarity of disclosures and alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Conduct Compliance Risk Assessments, including assessment of inherent risk, control effectiveness and residual risk.
- Conduct Compliance Monitoring, with increased focus on metrics and dashboards, as relevant.
- Shares advisory themes, emerging risks, and insights to inform annual testing plan and monitoring strategy and prioritization.
- Supports issue management, working with the business to understand root cause and to achieve timely and sustainable remediation.
- Provides advisory support throughout Compliance Testing Reviews, *: Advises during planning to inform risk-based scoping and coverage decisions,
- Participates in kick-off meetings with the business, engages with reviewers throughout the review as potential issues are identified, provides challenge and input on draft reports including issues, actions, action owners, due dates and ratings, Participates in closing meetings with the business
- Serves as advisors on relevant committees, including IGT Committee and AI Governance.
- Reviews compliance training content for regulatory accuracy, risk alignment and appropriate coverage of high risk and emerging topics.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with business and risk stakeholders, fostering a culture of compliance through ongoing consultation, education, and proactive engagement on compliance-related matters.
- Supports regulatory change management, including performing impact assessments and maintaining regulatory compliance policies across the bank.
Required Skills:
- Familiar with all consumer banking regulations and applicability to commercial deposit and lending activities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective, practical advisory guidance to senior officers of the department and to business line management, including the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Intermediate to advanced PC skills for Microsoft Office -- Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and formal written communication skills, including the ability to document advisory positions and explain complex regulatory requirements to non-compliance audiences.
- Ability to analyze various compliance problems or regulations and advise on effective, risk-based solutions.
- Ability to conduct research independently via written materials as well as electronic versions in an effective and professional manner.
- Ability to manage and complete advisory engagements and projects effectively while balancing competing requests from multiple business lines.
- Sound judgment in identifying, escalating, and documenting novel, ambiguous, or higher-risk regulatory questions raised by the business.
- Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with business, risk, legal, audit, and compliance stakeholders, fostering a culture of compliance through proactive engagement and consultation.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field and five plus years of regulatory compliance-related work experience.
- The ABA Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification).
Preferred Experience:
- Master's Degree and/or additional education such as having attended the Institute of Certified Bankers/American Bankers Association ICB/ABA Undergraduate or Graduate Compliance School.
