Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Perform and oversee minor repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, equipment, and grounds.
- →Supervise and support maintenance staff in the daily operation of the department.
- →Assign work, establish priorities, monitor completion, and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
- →Coordinate and manage outside vendors for repairs, maintenance, construction, and other specialized services.
- →Respond to after-hours and weekend maintenance needs as required and participate in the facility's 24/7 on-call coverage.
- →Maintain accurate records and assist with department budgets, supplies, and purchasing.
- →Ensure equipment, work areas, and the facility grounds are clean, safe, organized, and properly maintained.
- →Identify and promptly address hazardous conditions, safety concerns, and equipment issues.
- →Ensure compliance with Life Safety, fire safety, infection control, sanitation, isolation, and other applicable healthcare regulations and procedures.
- →Follow proper procedures for hazardous materials and electrical work, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
- →Support facility compliance with applicable state and local building codes.
- →Promote and protect residents' rights while maintaining positive and professional relationships with residents, families, visitors, staff, and regulatory agencies.
- →Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, training, Quality Improvement initiatives, and facility activities.
- →Assist with staff orientation and training as needed.
- →Serve as a hands-on working supervisor and assist with maintenance tasks as workload and department needs require.
- →Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, with hands-on knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentry, or equivalent technical experience, training, or licensing.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Life Safety Code requirements applicable to the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with applicable state and local building codes and regulations.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and respond effectively to urgent situations.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
- Ability to work independently while also effectively leading and supporting a team.
