Field Superintendent Integrated Systems

VSC Fire & Security in Dallas, Texas is seeking candidates for the position of Field Superintendent - Integrated Systems 

Oversees field technicians and coordinates field manpower planning with sales and design personnel. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and directing all field personnel in performance of fire detection and alarm equipment, security, and access equipment, closed circuit television and other monitoring devices, nurse call or other safety and security devices. When needed, performs installation tasks, advanced diagnostic, trouble shooting and repair procedures on cables, wiring, connections, and equipment as well as on installed systems and cables. May be responsible for training other Technicians on all aspects of installation, trouble shooting and repair. Provides review for updated or future improvements on existing manufacturers' equipment as required. Integrated Systems may include any of the following: Fire Alarm; Intrusion Detection; Access Control; CCTV; IP Cameras; Networking Infrastructure; Telecom; BDA (Bi-Directional Antenna systems); DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems); Audio/Video; Nurse Call; Area of Refuge; Intercom; Crestron; Extron; Honeywell; Notifier; Gamewell FCI; Silent Knight; Fire Lite; Siemens; AutoCall/JCI; or RATH.

• Requires mobility to visit variety of job sites to monitor work in progress.
• Must be capable of using ladders, lifts and scaffolding where necessary, as well as access to confined spaces, attics, basements, and other limited access areas.
• Requires visual acuity to read documents, meters and drawings as needed.
• Individual also performs administrative tasks in office environment utilizing standard office equipment.
• Position requires visual acuity for PC and document records, requires good speaking voice for phone interaction and auditory acuity for telephone use as well as digital dexterity for PC use.
• Requires ability to record and document project meetings, personnel actions, and reports to customers, AHJs or regulatory agencies.
• Must possess valid driver’s license for use of company vehicle.
• Working knowledge of fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and structured cabling systems.

• →Recruits, trains, and supervises all field employees, including helpers, apprentices, and alarm technicians. May also supervise warehouse personnel and purchasing coordinator.
• →Monitors work schedules, on the job safety, and approves documentation for payroll and work-related incidents and injuries.
• →Addresses and documents employee performance issues or attendance problems. Provides coaching and counseling to improve job performance.
• →Evaluates, disciplines (and terminates if necessary.)
• →Identifies individuals with aptitude and potential; encourages apprenticeship and NICET training when appropriate; offers trainees opportunities to develop skills as alarm technicians.
• →Works cooperatively with Design, Sales, and Purchasing personnel to coordinate pre-construction, installation and close out phases of contract.
• →Establishes and maintains communications with Owners, their representatives, and other contractors pertaining to work schedules, progress reports, change orders, and any critical factors related to site work.
• →Visits sites as necessary to check on progress of work, and fulfillment of contractual commitments.
• →Communicates as necessary with Owners, their representatives, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and building inspectors where required, to represent the client’s interests and to resolve issues of non-compliance or discrepancy.
• →In all cases, works closely with clients to ensure that all circumstances involving disagreement as to scope, method of handling on site conditions, or other client dissatisfaction, is handled tactfully, and with patience and integrity.
• →Assists sales personnel to evaluate labor requirements, material costs and overall project management needs.
• →Reviews blueprints and performs site surveys.
• →As directed, may quote service, repair, or renovation requests for existing or new customer contacts.
• →May call on existing accounts as directed by sales personnel in response to customer requests.
• →Ensures that all department personnel follow all site-specific and company safety standards.
• →Ensures that ALL accidents and injuries are reported as they occur and follows up on lost time injuries.
• →Ensures that all personnel take responsibility that tools and equipment are at hand, accounted for, and that they meet safety requirements.
• →Ensures that all field personnel with company vehicles follow all company driving regulations and truck maintenance protocol.
• →Coordinates safety training program with Safety Director and Risk Manager. Provides in-service training and certification for job-specific requirements, utilizing Safety Director/Risk Manager or vendor supplied instruction.
• →Is knowledgeable of current OSHA standards. Completes OSHA supervisor training as available.
• →Reviews and reinforces standard operating procedures with personnel. Addresses workplace behavior that raises risk of job-site liability or property damage.
