DETAILS OF POSITION 

Location: Santa Maria  /  Flexible Schedule: 20-30 hours weekly between 8:00am - 3:00pm /  

Part Time Hours : Monday - Friday / Starting Rate: $16.90 per hour

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Beacon, formerly VTC Enterprises/LOVARC has been supporting people with developmental disabilities since 1962. Part of fulfilling our mission includes providing individuals with employment opportunities and community experiences to develop and promote their independence.

The purpose of this position is to clean and provide upkeep for spaces and buildings, perform basic repairs, maintain cleaning supplies, operate cleaning equipment, and work for corporate and government clients

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Empty and reline wastebaskets and garbage cans.
• Separate trash from recycle.    
• Wash, scrub, and polish fixtures, sinks and mirrors in restrooms and breakroom.
• Wash and disinfect restrooms stall, door handles and locks.
• Clean and disinfect toilets, refill toilet paper, towels, and soap dispensers.
• Clean conference room fixtures and tables.
• Dust reception area desk, telephones, tables, counters, and equipment in Fitness House.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms floors, breakroom, and showers in Fitness House.
• Clean and vacuum the carpeted flooring.
• Clean entryway glass doors of main office.
• Remove cobwebs from walls and ceilings in all buildings.
• Sweep front walkway of main office.
• Safely utilize equipment commonly used for warehousing, shelf stocking and custodial tasks.
• Comply with safety procedures and safety equipment requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Must be able to read and sort labels and numbers. 

Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and management.

Self-Management Skills: Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions. Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work independently. Preference give to qualifying individuals with disabilities and Disabled Veterans.
