The Opportunity:

 

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Visiting Faculty- Director of Bands and Percussion member.  The Department of Music & Theatre at West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Full-time Visiting Professor of Music to serve as Director of Bands and Percussion* instructor.

 

Essential Functions of the position:

  • Direct the Marching Hilltoppers and Concert Band
  • Direct other ensembles as needed by the program and according to the candidate's expertise
  • Coordinate instruments and equipment related to the duties of a Director of Bands
  • Teach Applied Lessons. *Percussion is preferred but woodwinds and high brass candidates will also be considered
  • Teach other courses as needed by the program and according to the candidate's expertise and experience
  • Lead Recruitment efforts for all degrees: Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Technology
  • Positively represent the program, department, college, and university at on-campus and off-campus performances and other events


Education & Experience Requirements: 

 

  • Masters degree in Music required, Doctorate preferred
  • Percussionist preferred but woodwinds and high brass candidates will also be considered
  • Experience leading collegiate Marching Band and Concert Band is required
  • Steel Band experience is preferred

Anticipated Faculty Appointment Date: August 1, 2026

 

A faculty member is expected to participate in continuous improvement in the areas of teaching, professional development, and service to the University and community.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.
